Abstract

The invention relates to a smoke flue bend for incorporation into a smoke flue consisting of a number of pipe sections, for example for a woodburning stove or a fireplace. The smoke flue bend consists of a central curved pipe piece 1 and, connected to this, a straight cylindrical pipe piece 2, 3 at each end of the curved pipe piece, the two straight pipe pieces (pipe end pieces) being adapted for connection to the other pipe sections in the smoke flue system. The flue bend according to the invention is characterized in that it consists of a number of thin plate sections, the two outer pipe sections (the pipe ends) consisting of pipe pieces of conventional type, in other words pipe pieces produced by bending thin plate into tubular shape and then welding it together along the two bent-together plate edges, and the central curved pipe piece 1 essentially consisting of two approximately bowl-shaped, double-curved plate shells 1a, 1b which are each produced by form-pressing thin plate. Assembled edge to edge with the concave sides facing one another, the two double curved plate shells form the flue curvature concerned. The division of the flue bend into the said four sections (2 pipe end pieces and 2 complementary double-curved plate shells) makes it possible to prefabricate all these sections using current pressing and production processes in which thin plate is used as the starting material. The two hollow shells 1a, 1b are shaped by pressing in pressing tools adapted for the purpose. The sections are welded together to form a finished flue bend, preferably by welding from the inside of the pipes. In this way, finishing (polishing) of the welded joints is avoided. The flue bend according to the invention is characterized in that it is well-suited to rational series production on industrial scale, and by good use characteristics. Furthermore, the smoke flue bend has an advantageous decorative effect and satisfies modern design requirements. <IMAGE>
