Abstract

An electrical energy source with a static inverter and a welding transformer 12 for a resistance welding machine comprises a first static frequency converter 10 constructed with semiconductor elements, the output alternating current voltage of which converter has a frequency and a pulse shape which differs from the frequency and the pulse shape of the feed voltage supplied to the inverter. The pulse shape, amplitude and pulse duty factor can thereby be varied within wide limits. This is achieved by connecting at least one other frequency converter 11 in parallel with the first frequency converter 10, in addition to which the output alternating current voltage from the second frequency converter 11 can be added with phase synchronization to the output alternating current voltage from the first frequency converter 10 in the primary circuit of the welding transformer 12. <IMAGE>
