Abstract

The invention relates to a circuit breaker having at least one fuse insert (2), having a line which supplies current to said fuse insert and having a line which carries the current away from said fuse insert, each line having two contact tracks (7, 10) which are arranged fixedly and separated from one another, to which two moving contact links (11, 12) are allocated which, in their switched-on position, make contact diametrically with the respective contact track (7, 10), the contact links (11, 12) being held by at least one operating slide (13, 14). In order to ensure an optimum switching and operating behaviour of the circuit breaker, with a structurally flat shape, it is proposed according to the invention that two operating slides (13, 14) be provided which are arranged parallel to one another and can move in opposite directions by means of a switch mechanism (29, 24, 21), the contact tracks (7, 10) being arranged at right angles to the movement direction of the operating slides (13, 14), and each operating slide (13; 14) holding a contact link (11; 12), with axial play, parallel to the contact tracks (7, 10) allocated to the respective line, the contact links (11, 12) connecting the allocated contact tracks (7, 10) to one another in the switched-on position of said contact links, with spring pretensioning. <IMAGE>
