Abstract

The invention relates to a process and a cleaner for cleaning sanitary equipment. The concentration of the organic microbe-inhibiting materials in the cleaner is such that in the active phase their concentration in the sanitary equipment to be cleaned is at least approximately twice and at the most approximately 200 times the minimum inhibiting concentration (MIC). The cleaner contains stable microbe promoting organic materials which counteract the water-soluble, lime-dissolving acid in a concentration such that after dilution or flushing, the activity of the microbes that decompose the organic material in the water is enhanced. The process and cleaner can be used advantageously to inhibit or destroy microbes, for example in a toilet basin to be cleaned, and at the same time to promote the microorganisms that decompose the organic materials in the waste water.
