Description
The invention relates to a process for the production of edible molasses by removing the cations with the aid of exchange bodies of a known type, for example synthetic resin ion exchangers according to the main patent application relating to: production of edible molasses (file number, p 33010 IV / a89hD). According to the main patent, it is possible to produce a product with a fruity character and pleasant taste from the bad-tasting molasses in one operation, which, unlike raw molasses, is no longer harmful to health and can be used for food and drinks of all kinds. It is particularly important that not only the sugar in the molasses, but also the probably far more valuable organic acids become available for human consumption.
It has also been shown that the desalinated molasses with a dry matter content of 40-50% can be produced directly without evaporation. Up to now it was the view in technology that impure sugary juices can only be desalinated with dry matter contents below 20%. Only when the invention has succeeded in desalinating the molasses with almost three times the dry matter has the process become technically profitable and generally applicable.
The practical implementation of the process takes place in such a way that the molasses to be desalinated is first diluted with about 25-30% water, whereby the dry matter content is reduced to about 55%. Then the molasses diluted in this way is brought together in a suitable vessel (e.g. clay pipe) with an exchange body (about 1 liter of molasses for 1 liter of exchanger), which exchanges the potassium ions in the molasses for hydrogen ions. This process ends after a short time at room temperature. The desalinated molasses is now allowed to run off and the exchange body is treated with hydrochloric acid, which replaces the potassium ions with hydrogen ions. The replacement body is now ready for use again and can be used as often as you like.
