Dicalciumphosphat z.B. ist darin löslich.'but is well assimilated by the plants. A criterion for the positive plant physiological The value of water-insoluble calcium phosphates is their solubility in ammonium citrate solution (Petermann's solution). Dicalcium phosphate, for example, is soluble in it.
Das Dicalciumphosphat erfährt nämlich in wäßriger Aufschlämmung eineExperience has now taught that when rock phosphate is opened up for the purpose of production of dicalcium phosphate, either on its own or in a mixture with other fertilizer components, such as Nitrogen and potassium salts, complete ammonium citrate solubility only under very specific conditions is guaranteed. At least 97% of the total phosphoric acid in the fertilizer must be ammonium citrate soluble if it is to be addressed as good. The dicalcium phosphate namely experiences a in aqueous slurry

Art Disproportionierung, etwa im Sinne folgender Gleichung:Kind of disproportionation, for example in the sense of the following equation:
3 CaHPO4 = Ca3(POJ2+ H3PO4 3 CaHPO 4 = Ca 3 (POJ 2 + H 3 PO 4
The resulting tricalcium phosphate Ca 3 (PO 4 ) 2 is no longer sufficiently soluble in ammonium citrate. According to the equation, there is a state of equilibrium. If you continuously remove free ίο acid by neutralization, for example with ammonia, the dicalcium phosphate can be completely converted. The reaction itself is usually more complicated, namely with the formation of hydroxyapatite or in the presence of soluble fluorine compounds of fluoroapatite. The latter body is formed particularly easily and quickly; it is not soluble in ammonium citrate.
The practical production of complete fertilizers based on dicalcium phosphate or the separation and isolation of this phosphate is known to be based on breaking up raw phosphates with nitric acid, neutralizing the digestion solution with ammonia and thereby precipitating the calcium phosphate, while the excess calcium is eliminated as nitrate (freezing) or by precipitation is precipitated as sulfate or carbonate, with the simultaneous formation of ammonium nitrate. The risk of the formation of ammonium citrate-insoluble substances when neutralizing with ammonia is particularly great when using rock phosphate due to its fluorine content. It is not possible to neutralize to the end without special measures (p w value = 7 to 7.5) if one wants to obtain products that are completely soluble in ammonium citrate. One can now avoid the problem, if one carries out the neutralization only until the p H value of about 5.2 to previously coat the soluble calcium by addition of ammonium sulfate as gypsum. At this stage the precipitated calcium phosphate is still soluble in ammonium citrate; however, about 10 per cent of the phosphoric acid has remained soluble in water. However, if one intends to convert the calcium nitrate into calcium carbonate, this process can be initiated at a p w value of 6.9 to 7 at the earliest. It is known that up to this point the neutralization can only be carried out in the presence of magnesium salts without risking the ammonium citrate solubility. If one disregards precipitation of the soluble calcium as sulfate or carbonate, then all phosphoric acid can only be eliminated as ammonium citrate-soluble dicalcium phosphate if magnesium salts are again present during the neutralization.
■ .It has been found that the presence of a number of organic substances is particularly suitable for preventing the formation of compounds which are more or less insoluble in ammonium citrate when neutralizing acidic raw phosphate digestion solutions. Such organic substances are aliphatic compounds with two or more carboxyl groups and one or more hydroxyl groups, or also aromatic compounds with either two carboxyl groups or one carboxyl and one hydroxyl group. For example, tartaric acid, citric acid, malic acid, as representatives of the aliphatic series, and salicylic acid, as representatives of the aromatic series, are suitable. The selection of the protective substance from these groups of substances is not solely due to the purely chemical effect in the sense mentioned, but also its possible unfavorable effect on the soil bacteria when using the fertilizer. In order to achieve the desired effect, it is sufficient to add at least 0.4 to 0.5% of the protective substance to the acidic digestion material with a normal P 2 O 5 content of about 11%. More is of course applicable. The minimum amount just mentioned can be reduced to 0.3% if the addition is only made after a partial pre-neutralization (up to powert = about 3.2). ■.
A mixed fertilizer according to the invention is produced, for example, in such a way that raw phosphate is digested with nitric acid in a known manner. To 100 g disintegrated 0.5 g of tartaric acid are added, and the mass is neutralized with ammonia gas up to the value p w = 6.8 to 7. Then one passes into the go low-viscosity paste ammonia and carbon dioxide for the purpose of a transfer of the calcium nitrate in Calcium carbonate. Then potassium chlorine and possibly a dietary fiber (plaster of paris) or - for the purpose of granulation - ■ Fingut. added. After drying, for example, a full fertilizer with the nutrient components N: P: K = 10: 8: 18 results. The ammonium citrate solubility is 98%, based on the total phosphoric acid content.
Or one is careful to extract only the 1O0 dicalcium phosphate. For this purpose, it is neutralized by the inventive addition of o, S g of citric acid with ammonia gas until the pH value = 7 to 7.5, filtered with suction the precipitated dicalcium phosphate (which of course in this case includes all acid-insoluble secondary constituents of the phosphate rock) from covers with a 2% citric acid solution. This manipulation is necessary in order to have adequate protection against disproportionation during the drying process, because the removal of the dicalcium phosphate means that the citric acid is predominantly passed into the mother liquor.
