Air-cooled multi-cylinder internal combustion engine The invention relates to
an air-cooled multi-cylinder internal combustion engine with an in-line arrangement of the ribbed cylinders,
in which the crankcase to above the lower limit of the cylinder heads
is pulled up, which carries the downward freely expandable rib cylinder and to the cooling air duct
serves by creating side openings for the inlet and outlet of the Isühlluft and
Has partitions between the cylinders.
It is the object of the invention, in a combustion engine of the vorbeschr
the first kind of better cooling of the hottest parts, these are the cylinder heads,
to accomplish. This object is achieved in that the partitions are only the cylinder liners
surrounded, so are only pulled up to the lower limit of the cylinder heads.
The invention provides for the passage of the cooling air in the area of the cylinder heads
created more space. The cooling fins can be at the points where the cylinder heads
opposed to each other, are extended in an advantageous manner.
Derartiges
ist also nicht Gegenstand der Erfindung. An air-cooled multi-cylinder internal combustion engine has become known,
in which the crankcase is only up to the limit facing the crankshaft
the cylinder heads are raised. It goes without saying that with such a
Machine the partition walls can only be carried up to this point. Such a thing
is therefore not the subject of the invention.
dargestellt. In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is for example
shown.
mit i bezeichnet.
frei dehnbaren Zylinder i i. Die Zylinderköpfe io und die Zylinder i i sind mit
quer zur Zylinderachse verlaufenden Kühlrippen 12 bzw. 13 besetzt.
ii besitzt.
Fig. I shows a vertical longitudinal section through an air-cooled

The internal combustion engine shown is a four-stroke diesel engine. Here's the one
However, the invention is not limited. It also applies to other air-cooled ones in the same way
Multi-cylinder internal combustion engines, e.g. B. for those who work in two-stroke.
The machines can either work with fuel injection or also
have a carburetor. In the four-stroke diesel engine shown, the working pistons are
denoted by i. These work via connecting rods 2 on the crankshaft 3, the
is mounted in the lower part 4. of the crankcase. The covers 5 of the crankshaft bearings
are tightened by screws 6. The crank arm 7 is at the bottom through an oil pan 8
locked. The crankcase is with its part 9 to above the lower limit
the cylinder heads io pulled up and carries the cylinder heads and the down
freely expandable cylinder i i. The cylinder heads io and the cylinders i i are with
cooling fins 12 and 13 running transversely to the cylinder axis. In the cylinder heads
are the fuel injectors 14 and the valves for the inlet and
Outlet. In Fig. 2, the inlet valve is designated by 15 and the outlet valve by 16.
The inlet and outlet valves 15 and 16 lie in the longitudinal center plane of the machine
and are from a lying above the cylinder heads io in the longitudinal direction of the machine
Camshaft 17 actuated from rocker arm. The camshaft 17 is in a box
18 stored, which rests on the raised part 9 of the crankcase, with the same
is firmly clamped by screws i9 and extends over the entire length of part 9
extends so that it forms a cover plate, which the whole machine housing
reinforced. The box 18 is closed at the top by a cover 20. The cylinders
i are in the cylinder heads with the help of an external thread 2i attached to them at the top
screwed in. The cylinder heads are in turn by means of screws 22 under the
Box i8 hung. In this way the cylinder heads are ok and the cylinders
i i too freely expandable after the crankcase. The cylinders i i are in a transverse wall
23 out of the crankcase. For this purpose, the transverse wall has 23 holes 2q.,
in which the cylinder ii abut with the interposition of rubber ring seals 25.
The guidance of the cooling air around the cylinder heads io and the cylinder ii takes place through
the raised part 9 of the crankcase by making this lateral openings 26
for the inlet and outlet of the cooling air and partition walls 27 between the cylinders
ii owns. The partition walls 27 surround only the cylinder liners i i. they are
so only pulled up to the lower limit of the cylinder heads io. Let this
best see Figs. 2 and 3. The fact that the partition walls only up to the

be extended in an advantageous manner, so that the cooling surface on the cylinder heads
io is enlarged, causing the cylinder heads io, which are the hottest parts of the
Make machine, be better cooled.
