Es ist schon in der verschiedensten Weise versucht worden, die Metallkapseln oder Sockel, welche die stromzuführenden Theile an elektrischen Glühlampen tragen, auswechselbar anzubringen. Bei allen den bisher angegebenen Anordnungen sind die Metalltheile jedoch stets mehr oder weniger in und an dem Glase der Lampenbirnen so befestigt, dafs das Glas diese Metalltheile theilweise bedeckt. Diese Befestigungsarten werden nämlich fast ausschliefslich in der Weise ausgeführt, dafs das Glas der Lampenbirnen im plastisch fügbaren Zustande um diese Metalltheile herum theilweise verblasen wird. Die Lampenbirne α hat eine angeblasene kopfähnliche Erhöhung b mit einer zwischen dieser Erhöhung und der eigentlichen Birne vorgesehenen halsförmigen Einschnürung. An dieser Einschnürung sind drei oder mehrere (bei der dargestellten Ausführung drei) symmetrisch vertheilte Vertiefungen angebracht. Um die halsförmige Einschnürung herum wird nun ein federnder Bügel e gelegt, welcher den Vertiefungen d entsprechende Abbiegungen besitzt, mit denen er in den Vertiefungen liegt, so dafs er an einer Drehung verhindert ist. Dieser Bügel ist einerseits offen und an zwei einander gegenüberliegenden Seiten mit nach aufsen hängenden Verlängerungen versehen, durch welche er die Kapsel c festhält. In Fig. 2 ist dargestellt, wie der Bügel e mit den Oeffnungen f und g der Metallkapsel, wie sie aus Fig. 4 und 5 besonders ersichtlich, in Verbindung tritt.The lamp bulb α has a blown head-like elevation b with a neck-shaped constriction provided between this elevation and the actual bulb.
