Durch die Erfindung wird dafür gesorgt, daß das Fett, welches auf die Gleichrichterscheiben aufgebracht wird, in die Poren der Gegenelektrode bzw. eigentlichen Gleichrichterschicht, beispielsweise der Selenschicht eines Selengleichrichters, eindringen kann und so de Gleichrichterplatte in allen Teilen wirksam gegen Schädigungen schützt, die durch Eindringen von Feuchtigkeit entstehen können. Das als Schutzmittel gegen Feuchtigkeit dienende öl oder Fett kann mit einem Pinsel auf die Gleichrichterscheiben aufgetragen werden, oder man taucht die Gleichrichterscheiben in einen Bottich, in dem sich öl oder Fett befindet. Zweckmäßig wird das Schutzmittel vor dem elektrischen Formieren der Gleichrichterscheiben aufgebracht.
