Wrapping for smokable items

The invention relates to a wrapping for smoking articles, in particular tobacco and the like.

In practice, cigarette papers cut to a rectangular shape are known, which have an adhesive strip along one long edge. This cigarette paper is rolled with tobacco arranged on it into an essentially cylindrical cigarette, whereby the wrapper is closed by moistening the adhesive strip and attaching it in the area of the other long edge. The known cigarette papers can only be used to roll essentially cylindrical cigarettes, the dimensions of which depend on the cut of the paper rectangle. With the known wrapper, a not inconsiderable part of the tobacco wrapped in it is lost by the smoker when throwing it away or when stubbing out the mouth section of the rolled cigarette, known as the butt.

It is the object of the invention to provide a wrapping for smoking articles in which the proportion of lost tobacco is reduced.

This object is achieved according to the invention with the features of claim 1.

The trapezoidal base of the wrapper makes it possible to produce a conically tapered cigarette, the mouth area of which represents the truncated cone. Since the length of the area required to stump the cigarette or to hold it has a disproportionately small amount of tobacco filling (this corresponds to the opening of the truncated cone formed by the cover line), the tobacco filling is better utilized. To produce a cigarette, the tobacco is spread out in an amount proportional to the width of the trapezoidal wrapper and then rotated in such a way that the adhesive strip can be attached to the then outer surface of the opposite edge.

The trapezoid is preferably symmetrical and may also have a fold along the line of symmetry. By stacking the trapezoidal wrappings in pairs, they can be packed compactly and removed from a removal slot in a package in such a way that the lower trapezoid half of the removed wrapping conveys the upper trapezoid half of the wrapping that engages with it out of the removal slot. The trapezoid material is preferably cigarette paper and the adhesive strip is a rubber coating. The trapezoid material is preferably one piece.

The invention is explained in more detail below using an embodiment with reference to the figures. They show:

The one-piece cigarette paper 10 shown in Fig. 1 has a trapezoidal cut. It is limited by its base line 12, its cover line 14 and its side lines 16 and 18. The trapezoid 10 is symmetrical, i.e. the angles 20 and 22 between the base line 12 and the side lines 16 and 18 are the same size. Along the line of symmetry of the trapezoid 10, it has a fold line 24 along which the top side 26 (shown in Fig. 1) can be folded onto itself.

Along the edge of the trapezoid 10 delimited by the side line 16, a rubberized surface 28 is arranged on the top side 26, which extends from the base line 12 to the cover line 14 parallel to the side line 16. When the rubberized strip is moistened, it sticks, similar to the back of a postage stamp.

The trapezoid 10 made of cigarette paper is suitable for wrapping smokable articles, in particular tobacco. The tobacco is distributed in the area of the fold line 24, along which the trapezoid is slightly folded or bent, in such a way that the volume of tobacco increases essentially continuously between the cover line 14 and the base line 12. the tobacco is rolled up in the trapezoid in a substantially conical shape. As soon as a sufficiently high packing density of the tobacco in the cigarette paper is achieved, the edge area on the side line 16 of the upper part 26 of the trapezoid 10, which forms the inner surface, can be glued to the outer surface in the area of the other side line 18 by moistening the rubberized strip 28. This creates a smoking article shown in Fig. 2, designed as a truncated cone, with the cover line 14 forming a smaller circular opening that can be put in the mouth and the base line 12 forming a larger circular opening at which the tobacco can be lit for smoking. With some special smoking articles, this not only allows for a smaller proportion of tobacco loss in the mouth area that is thrown away, but also greater smoking pleasure. When smoking a truncated cone-shaped cigarette, the smoke from the cigarette must be inhaled particularly strongly, which creates a faster intoxicating feeling when the smoke is inhaled. It is of course possible to insert the smaller opening formed by the cover line 14 of the trapezoid 10 into a separate cigarette holder or pipe mouth. The conical shape of the cigarette benefits from the self-centering fit.

It is of course possible to make the Trapez 10 from smokable materials other than paper and to smoke materials other than tobacco in it.

In a container, in particular a paper container with a substantially rectangular base and a central slot running parallel to the longitudinal edges, a plurality of trapezoids 10 can be arranged, which

are folded one another, can be stacked to save space by interlocking the folded halves and can also be easily pulled out of the slot by the upper trapezoid wing when pulling out the lower trapezoid wing of the trapezoid above. Alternatively, it is possible to wrap trapezoids 10 made of cigarette paper around a roll and roll them up in pairs with their long sides 16 and 18 twisted, whereby adjacent trapezoids 10 can be separated from one another, e.g. along a tear line.

The dimensions of a trapezoidal smokable paper are not restricted with regard to the height of the trapezoid, the angles 20, 22 or the length of the base line 12 or the cover line 14. However, the following ranges of values have proven to be favorable:

Trapezium height: suitably between 4 cm and 14 cm, preferably between 6 cm and 12 cm, recommended 10 cm.

The angle is suitably between 50° and 88°, preferably between 60° and 82°, recommended 79°.

Baseline: suitably between 3 cm and 12 cm, preferably between δ cm and 10 cm, recommended 8 cm.
