DESCRIPTION Coconut mat

TECHNICAL AREA

The invention relates to a coconut mat with a mesh of coconut threads for covering pond sealing sheets, which can consist of plastic foil or other materials. While the pond sealing sheets are needed to seal the pond substrate, the coconut mat serves to visually enhance the bank above the water level. The mat also acts as mechanical protection against damage to the sealing sheet.

STATE OF THE ART

The use of mats made of coconut fibers in connection with lining ponds is well known. The natural coconut fiber is a purely natural product that is naturally resistant to pests or fungi and can therefore be used untreated. In addition, the coconut fiber is sufficiently stable and durable and can be easily composted at the end of its service life. The raw material coconut fiber is a renewable material that is available in sufficient quantities and can be harvested and processed in an environmentally friendly way.

Well-known coconut mats are used to line the banks above the water level. This allows the pond sealing membrane, which is also above the water level, to be visually concealed. The pond bank can thus be visually integrated into the natural environment of the pond. The integration is promoted by the fact that plants can easily cling to the mat, and ultimately the bank becomes a planted and thus more

can have a natural appearance. The possibility of using the mat as a framework for planting increases the more flat the terrain is and the flatter the mat can be laid.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Based on this state of the art, the invention is based on the object of specifying an improved coconut mat.

This invention is specified by the features of claim 1. The invention is therefore characterized by the fact that several additional tufts of coconut fibers are attached to the mat. Due to the large number of coconut tufts and thus of coconut fibers, the ends of which protrude loosely from the mat, the mat has a very large surface area overall. This means that the microorganisms that contribute to the biological balance of a pond can quickly settle even on very steep slopes. Despite its surface being covered with coconut fibers, the mat remains breathable. On the other hand, its relatively dense surface provides mechanical protection for the pond sealing membrane. In addition, it can also protect the sealing membrane from UV radiation and other environmental influences surprisingly effectively.

An easy way to attach the loose coconut fibers to the mat is to wrap tufts of coconut fibers around each warp and/or weft thread of the mat's plain weave. The loose ends of the coconut fibers are preferably on one side of the mat.

The economic effort for arranging these coconut fibers proves to be optimal when the individual tufts are spaced so far apart on the mat that the fibers approximately cover the weave pattern of the mat. The mat is then more or less densely filled with coconut fibers - __

To install such a mat, the mat, which is preferably available in roll form, is laid at the appropriate point on the slope and, for example, is provided with a load to prevent it from slipping. The length of mat required for the slope length can then simply be cut from the roll.

WAYS TO CARRY OUT THE INVENTION

A mat 10 consists of coconut fibers. The coconut fibers are present as warp threads 12 and weft threads 14. In the present example, the weave of these warp threads 12 and weft threads 14 shows a plain weave with alternating raising and lowering of the warp threads 12 and weft threads 14.

In the present example, between two warp depressions 16, several coconut fibers 20 are gathered together in the form of a tuft 18 around the area 22 of the relevant warp thread 12 present between two adjacent warp depressions 16._

The ends of the coconut fibers 20 end on the same surface side of the mat 10.

Such tufts 18 are present at various points on the mat 10. For example, another tuft 18.1 is attached to the mat 10 at such a distance from the tuft 18 in a similar way that its coconut fibers 20.1 ending freely on the mat combine with the coconut fibers 20 of the neighboring tuft 18 to form a dense second mat layer above the plain weave of the mat 10. In Fig. 1, only two tufts 18, 18.1 are shown. The weave pattern of the mat 10 can be covered from above by a corresponding number of tufts 18, 18.1. Nevertheless, the mat 10 remains breathable, since the tufts 18, 18.1 only produce a more or less dense optical mat pattern.

The warp raises and lowers as well as the weft raises and lowers can be present alternately on the mat 10. Furthermore, the warp threads 12 and weft threads 14 can be woven together in any basic weave.

Fig. 2 shows part of a pond slope. In the present example, a film 30 is placed on the pond floor, which seals the subsoil 32 from the pond 34. The mat 10 shown in part in Fig. 1 is placed on the film, with the tufts 18 and 18.1 facing the water side. The tufts 18, 18.1 are shown only schematically. The tufts are ideal for the rapid settlement of microorganisms, which are necessary for the self-cleaning effect of a lake.

Substrate can be produced. The load can also be provided not only at the upper end of the mat but also at other areas of the mat. The tufts of coconut fibers present everywhere give the load material sufficient support.

The mat 10 is an effective and economically simple way to improve plant growth even on particularly steep areas of pond slopes.
