The invention relates to an electric fence insulator for attachment to an insulator post, with an insulator plate on which there is a holding device for an electric fence tape, wire, cord or strand and two insulator arms arranged opposite one another on both sides of the insulator post, between which the insulator post can be clamped by means of a nut used for fastening.

Such an electric fence insulator has obviously been in use for some time, but there is no written evidence of it. The well-known electric fence insulator is used for subsequent attachment to an insulator post that is already equipped with a head insulator. It is placed on an insulator post in such a way that the insulator post is positioned in the middle of the two insulator arms. A fastening nut is then screwed onto the insulator arms, which have an external thread, until it clamps against the insulator post.

This electric fence insulator, which is advantageous in itself, has the disadvantage that when tightening the clamp fastening, which is often designed as a wing nut, the force on the thread becomes so great that the plastic insulator arms are compressed and the nut jumps over the threads. This jumping over the threads then has the disadvantageous consequence that the electric fence insulator cannot be sufficiently secured to the post.

The object of the invention is therefore to improve the known electric fence insulator so that it can be easily and reliably attached to the insulator post.

The solution to this problem arises from the features of claim 1, in particular the features of the characteristic part, according to which an insert part is arranged in a rotationally movable manner at the end of the nut facing the insulator post, which insert part rests at least partially on both surfaces of the insulator arms facing each other and is held stationary between the insulator arms while the nut is being screwed on.

The electric fence insulator according to the invention has the advantage that the nut provided with an insert prevents the insulator arms from moving towards each other even when a large force is applied. This means that the insert acting as a spacer is held in place between the insulator arms, while the wing nut

is screwed onto the insulator arms until a clamping action is created between the nut and the post.

This allows the electric fence insulator to be clamped easily and reliably onto the insulator post, while preventing the nut from jumping over several threads.

In a preferred embodiment, the insert part is designed as a ring element which has a central web, the width of which essentially corresponds to the distance between the surfaces of the arms facing each other. In this solution according to the invention, the insert part is guided very reliably over the entire circumference of the nut, with the surface of the ring section facing the insulator post also serving to clamp the electric fence insulator.

In a particularly preferred embodiment, there is a locking connection between the nut and the insert part, which allows a relative movement of the aforementioned parts to one another. In addition to simple assembly of the nut and the insert part, a reliable rotatable guide of the insert part on the nut is also ensured.

In the drawings, an electric fence insulator is designated overall by the reference number 10.

Fig. 1 shows an insulator post 11 with a tread plate 12 to which two electric fence insulators 10 are attached. On the one hand, this is a head insulator 13 and on the other hand, an additional insulator 14 that can be subsequently attached to the insulator post 11. The additional insulator 14 that accommodates the wide band 15 has an insulator plate 16 to which insulator webs 17 and an insulator tongue 18 are molded on one side and two insulator arms 19 are molded on the other side at a distance from one another.

Between the insulator arms 19 there is a clamping receptacle 20 which holds the insulator post 11 and consists of clamping surfaces 21 which are at right angles to one another. A wing nut 23 is screwed onto the insulator arms 19, each of which is provided with an external thread 22, and is connected in a snap-fit manner to an insert part 24.

As shown in particular in Fig. 4 and 5, the insert part 24 is ring-shaped and has a web 25 which is held between mutually facing surfaces 26 of the insulator arms 19. The web 25 has a width b which essentially corresponds to the distance between the surfaces 26 of the insulator arms 19. In order to save weight, the web 25 has openings 27 and a full-surface recess 28 on the pile side.

A wing nut 23 including the insert part 24 is pushed onto the insulator arms 19 in such a way that the web 25 is held between the insulator arms 19, while the wing nut 23 performs a movement guided by the external thread 22 in the direction of the insulator post 11. Even with a large force, it cannot happen that the relatively thin insulator arms 19 are moved towards each other so that the wing nut 23 skips threads. The wing nut 23 is screwed onto the insulator arms 19 until the insulator post 11 is clamped between the clamping surfaces 21 and an annular surface 29 of the insert part 24 facing the insulator post 11.

Electric fence insulator for attachment to an insulator post, with an insulator plate on which there is a holding device for an electric fence tape, wire, cord or strand, and two insulator arms arranged opposite one another on both sides of the insulator post, between which the insulator post can be clamped by means of a nut serving for fastening, characterized in that an insert part (24) is arranged in a rotatably guided manner on the end of the nut (23) pointing towards the insulator post (11), which insert part rests at least partially on both mutually facing surfaces (26) of the insulator arms (19) and is held stationary between the insulator arms (19) while the nut (23) is being screwed on. 2. Electric fence insulator according to claim 1, characterized in that the insert part (24) is designed as a ring element which has a central web (25) whose width (b) corresponds essentially to the distance between the faces (26) of the insulator arms (19) facing one another. 3.
