Verfahren zur Herstellung feuerfester Steine und Stampfmassen Zusatz zum Patent 93& -173 In dem Patent 93$ 177 ist unter anderem vorgeschlagen worden, feuerfeste Steine aus Kalk in der Weise herzustellen, daß der wie üblich gebrannte Kalk in Hydrat übergeführt und dieses nach Brennen bei Temperaturen von über 150o° C zerkleinert und zu feuerfesten Steinen und Stampfmassen verpreßt und gebrannt wird. Erfindungsgemäß gelingt es nach diesem Verfahren auch, den Widerstand von Kalk gegen Zerfallen ganz erheblich zu steigern, und zwar dadurch, daß dem Kalkhydrat vor dem Brennen auf über 150o° C geringe Mengen von Magnesit oder Dolomit in der Oxydform, zweckmäßig als Hydrat, zugesetzt werden. Wesentliche Verbesserungen. des Widerstandes gegen Zerfallserscheinungen waren schon bei einem Zusatz von o,5 MgO festzustellen. Mit dem Zusatz von MgO oder von dieses Oxyd enthaltenden oder liefernden Massen muß man erheblich unter der theoretischen. Zusammensetzung,des Dolomits bleiben, da durch größere Zusätze die Feuerfestigkeit sinkt, ohne daß der Widerstand gegen Zerfall steigt. Versuche haben gezeigt, daß der Zusatz von 0,5 bis 2,5"/o MgO bereits eine maximale Beständigkeit gegen Hydratzerfall bei wirkt, ohne die Feuerfestigkeit praktisch zu, beeinflussen. Vorteilhaft ist dieVerwendung von dolomitischem Kalk, zweckmäßig solcher Kalke, die von Natur aus die gewünschte Menge MgO enthalten, so daß keine oder nur geringe Zusätze an MgO oder solches liefernder Massen notwendig sind.According to the invention, it is also possible by this method to increase the resistance of lime to disintegration quite considerably, namely by adding small amounts of magnesite or dolomite in the oxide form, expediently as hydrate, to the hydrated lime before burning to over 150 ° C .
