PrägbareDruckplatten, insbesondereAdreßdruckplatten und Prägestreifen für Adressier- und Rotationsdruckmaschinen, hat man bisher ausschließlich aus Blechen aus Nichteisenmetallen, insbesondere aus Zinkblech, versuchsweise auch aus Aluminiumblech, hergestellt, da sich erwiesen hat, daß diese Bäustoffe, vorzugsweise aber das Zink, gegenüber anderen Werkstoffen ganz beträchtliche Vorteile bieten. -Diese Vorteile bestehen vor :allem in der verhältnismäßig -großen Weichheit und Zähigkeit des Zinks bei einer für den bestimmten Verwendungszweck völlig hinreichenden Festigkeit. Zinkblech einer Stärke zwischen 0,35 und 0,5 mm gestattet ohne übermäßige Beanspruchung der Prägestempel eine scharfe Ausprägung der- einzelnen Schrift- und Zahlenzeichen und verträgt vor allem ein mehrfaches Einebnen vorhandener Einprägungen mit darauffolgender Neuprägung an der gleichen Stelle. Zinkplatten haben aber den schwerwiegenden Nachteil, daß sie nach dem Prägen. zwischen in bestimmtem Abstand voneinander angebrachten Walzen hindurchlaufen müssen, um unvermeidliche Unterschiede in der Höhe der einzelnen Schriftzeichen auszugleichen. Beim Umprägen derartiger Platten ergab sich nämlich ein starkes Verziehen der Platte, wodurch das Druckbild beeinträchtigt wurde. Die Erfindung beruht auf der Erkenntnis,. daß die bisher nur zu Führungszwecken verwendeten Randumbördelunaen von Adreßdruckplatten der Platte selbst eine solche Versteifung geben, daß sich die Platte, auch wenn sie aus Eisenblech besteht, ebenso häufig umprägen läßt wie das bisher ,gebräuchliche Zink. Durch die Umbördelung wird nämlich die Flatte derart versteift, daß sie sich auch bei -wiederholtem Umprägen nicht störend verzieht.It has long been known that sheet iron can be embossed.
