Description

Process for the preparation of nitrocellulose emulsions with high Dry content It is known to convert solid substances into water by mechanical crushing to emulsify or to dissolve colloidally in the presence of protective colloids. Will this mode of operation on high molecular weight compounds such. B. nitrocellulose, applied, so there is a partial degradation, which is necessary for the further processing of such Dispersions is disadvantageous. To gently disperse such substances in water, one usually proceeds in such a way that one dissolves them in organic solvents and these Solutions emulsified in water. It has also been suggested to use nitrocellulose To emulsify them in water in a particularly gentle manner by converting them into solvent emulsions dissolves with shaking or stirring. To get highly viscous nitrocelluloses this way to emulsify, but it always requires a considerable amount of organic solvents, which is about four to six times the nitrocellulose used. Through this Not only does a high consumption of valuable solvents occur, but it does only emulsions with a relatively low dry content are achieved.

It has now been found that nitrocellulose can be obtained without any noticeable degradation can be converted into emulsions with a high dry content if the mechanical Division in -water in the presence of an emulsifier and small amounts of solution and / or Makes queilmittel. The amount of solvent or swelling agent can thereby be chosen so small that it is not sufficient for the formation of stable emulsions. The division can according to the invention with a suitable kneader, a ball mill, Sieve press od. The like. Be made. One can use an emulsion of the solvent or swelling agent run out and add the nitrocellulose, these agents can but also during: the mechanical division. Example i 15 kg of nitrocellulose with 331/3% water together with 8 kg of dibutyl phthalate and 1 kg of Turkish red oil Kneaded for 1 hour and then 2 kg of water were added in the course of 1/2 hour. Man receives 26 kg of nitrocellulose emulsion with a dry content of 73.1%. example 35 kg of emulsion are added to 20 kg of nitrocellulose, which contains 8 kg of castor oil, 12 kg Contains dibutyl phthalate and 5 kg of ethyl acetate. After standing one level, the mass will be Kneaded vigorously for 2 hours, the temperature being kept below 40 ° by cooling holds, and the emulsion obtained is homogenized using a sieve press. For this one gives finally 4 kg of dibutyl phthalate: d 1 kg of carbon black, after it has been placed in 10 kg of water has emulsified.

Beispiel 3 Man emulgiert io kg Essigester, 12 kg Weichmacher, z. Man erhält ioo kg streichfertige Emulsion mit einem Trockengehalt von 37'/0.Example 3 100 kg of ethyl acetate, 12 kg of plasticizer, e.g. B. dibutyl phthalate, 0.2 kg pigment and 0.5 kg emulsifier, z. B. sulfurized castor oil or condensation products from castor oil and ethylene oxide, or polyethylene oxide derivatives of higher molecular weight aliphatic alcohols in 20 kg of water and this emulsion turns yellow together with 30 kg of nitrocellulose with a water content of 331/3 ° / o in a ball mill. After dispersion is complete, an emulsion is added which consists of 13 kg of water, 20 kg of methylcyclohexanone, 5 9c3 of butanol, 5 kg of Toluo1, 4 kg of synthetic resin compatible with nitrocellulose, e.g. B. cyclohexanone resin, and 0.3 kg of a condensation product of castor oil and ethylene oxide. 100 kg of ready-to-spread emulsion with a dry content of 37% are obtained.
