Während nun die Trommel mit der Haut unter der Werkzeugwalze D durchgeführt und die Haut hierbei bearbeitet wird, laufen die Rollen der Klemmleiste B in dem concentrischen Theil der Curvennuthen E, so dafs also die Haut während des Arbeitsprocesses gleichmäfsig festgehalten ist. Bei Retoursteuerung der Segmenttrommel tritt der Vorgang ungekehrt ein und zuletzt wird die Klemmvorrichtung bezw. Zange wieder selbstthätig gelöst, so dafs die bearbeitete Haut herausgenommen und durch eine unbearbeitete Haut ersetzt werden kann.
