Description: Pipe clamp

The innovation relates to a pipe clamp consisting of a strip of material formed into an approximately ring-shaped holding body, the flange-like bent ends of which can be pulled together by means of a clamping screw, with a spacer ring provided with a radial slot being placed on the screw shaft between the flanges.

Such a pipe clamp is known from the German utility model G 90 02 663.

Such a pipe clamp is normally dimensioned for a specific nominal pipe diameter so that the pipe is clamped and therefore immovably held by the holding body when the flanges are placed on top of each other.

A spacer ring of a certain, predeterminable thickness on the screw shaft part between the flanges now offers the possibility of creating a longitudinally movable holder for the same pipe with the same pipe clamp, if this is preferred or necessary for assembly or material-related reasons. Pipe clamps of this type are often supplied pre-assembled with a clamping screw that can be swung out to the side, so that the pipe clamp only needs to be placed around the pipe at the assembly point, after which the clamping screw can be tightened.

The known pipe clamp is designed to subsequently remove the spacer ring - i.e. at the installation site - from the

To clip it onto the screw shaft from the side. For this purpose, the radial slot has a width that increases towards the outside so that it can be widened quite easily when clipped on from the side.

Spacer rings must therefore be available at the installation site as required in order to be able to convert a pipe holder that is essentially immovable into a movable one.

However, a spacer ring of the known type that has been accidentally clipped on cannot be easily removed from the screw shaft.

According to the innovation, an improved design of a spacer ring of the above type is now proposed, which can be easily removed from the screw shaft. The spacer ring according to the innovation is characterized in that a hole is cut out in one end face of the spacer ring, at a point opposite the slot.

A spacer ring designed in this way can be easily lifted off the clamping screw shaft using a pin-like object, such as the shaft of a screwdriver, that is inserted into the recessed hole and is therefore suitable for being supplied in a pre-assembled state - i.e. already attached to the screw shaft. The pipe clamp supplied is therefore a pipe clamp that essentially clamps the pipe in a movable manner and can be converted into a fixed pipe clamp at the installation site as required by removing the spacer ring in the manner described above.

It should be noted that the pre-assembly of the spacer ring is carried out in an automated manufacturing process, in which the spacer ring is mounted in the axial direction.

An example of a pipe clamp in accordance with the new design is explained in more detail using the drawing. It shows:

The pipe clamp shown in Fig. 1 is of a type known per se (see, for example, EP-A-0 387 967) and consists of a strip of material formed into an annular holding body 1, the flange-like bent ends 2 and 3 of which can be pulled together by means of a clamping screw 4. The annular holding body 1 can be formed in a known manner from two parts which are connected to one another in an articulated manner on the side facing away from the clamping screw 4, so that the pipe clamp can be easily "opened" for wrapping around the pipe A. The holding body is also provided with a lining 5 made of rubber or similar material. 6 designates a welded nut for hanging (by means of a threaded rod) on a ceiling or other supporting wall.

In the embodiment shown, the upper flange 2 has a radially open slot 7 through which the pre-assembled clamping screw 4 can temporarily swing out in a known manner when the pipe clamp is placed around the pipe.

The pipe clamp is delivered to the assembly site in approximately the state shown in the drawing. Between the two flanges 2 and 3 there is a spacer ring 8, which has already been placed on the shaft of the clamping screw 4 beforehand, i.e. during the (automated) manufacturing process of the pipe clamp. The pipe clamp and the thickness of the spacer ring 8 are dimensioned such that after tightening the clamping screw 4, the pipe clamp grips the pipe A in a form-fitting manner but can be moved longitudinally.

The spacer ring 8 has a radial slot 9, the (smallest) width of which is slightly smaller than the diameter of the screw shaft and the inner end of which widens slightly inwards at x. A slot-shaped hole 10 is provided in the face of the spacer ring 8 facing the upper flange, at a point that is diametrically opposite the slot 9 (see also Fig. 2). The end of a pin-shaped object can be inserted into the hole 10, which can be continuous or designed as a recess, in order to lift the spacer ring 8 off the clamping screw shaft if a non-displaceable mounting of the pipe A is desired.

As can be seen from the drawing, a screwdriver 11 can be used to lift off the spacer ring 8, whereby the shaft of the screwdriver can be inserted through the outer area of the slot 7 in the upper flange 2 into the hole 10. The head of the clamping screw 4 can be used as a side when lifting off the spacer ring 8.

In the spacer ring 8, two incisions 12 are further provided, which extend inwards from the peripheral wall of the spacer ring 8 and on both sides of the plane of symmetry
of the spacer ring 8 form a kind of hinge points which facilitate the widening of the radial slot 9 when removing the spacer ring 8.

The spacer ring 8 is advantageously made of a suitable, hard plastic.
