Description

Production of steel for siliconized sheets with reduced watt losses It is known that the magnetic properties of the so-called siliconized sheets, as they are for dynamo and transformer sheets and strips with about i to 40; 'o silicon be used heavily by the silicon, carbon and manganese content and the manufacture of steel can be influenced.

In pursuit of an operational observation, it has now been found that the watt losses of such sheets can be significantly improved if a small amount of silicic acid-containing substances, in particular refractory bricks (acidic silica bricks), is thrown onto the slag of the steel produced in the furnace. It is sufficient here, for. B. about a quantity of about 25 kg stones on a 6-tonne electric smelter. It has not yet been clarified whether the effect can be attributed to a favorable influence of the silicon mines reduced from the slag in the steel or to other influences. What is certain, however, is that by adding about the specified amount of refractory bricks at the specified time, the magnetic properties, in particular the watt losses, of the sheets made from the steel compared to sheets made from a. steel produced without applying this measure can be improved.
