"Safety ventilation mouthpiece"

The innovation relates to a safety ventilation mouthpiece with an essentially tubular section.

Such mouthpieces are used to ventilate deliberately injured persons , for example after road traffic accidents. They often consist of just a small tube, which is used to prevent direct contact between the person giving the breath and the accident victim for hygienic reasons. The length of the tube only partially eliminates the various risks of infection, since firstly contact between the person giving the breath and the accident victim cannot be completely ruled out and secondly blood, vomit or similar can come into contact with the person giving the breath through the mouthpiece when the accident victim reacts, e.g. when coughing or breathing out. In addition, the large distance between the person giving the breath and the person being ventilated is desirable for reasons of risk of infection, but often hinders effective ventilation.

The innovation is based on the task of creating a ventilation mouthpiece that excludes unwanted contact with the accident victim and at the same time ensures good ventilation options.

Fig. 1 shows a safety ventilation mouthpiece, which consists of a tubular section 1, a cross plate 2 and a plastic film 3. The cross plate 2 has two elongated openings 4 that run parallel to each other and are arranged at a distance from each other. Between the two openings 4, two locking pins 5 are arranged on the underside of the cross plate 2.

The film 3 has an opening 6 in its center, also designed as an elongated hole, the dimensions of which are such that it can accommodate the two locking pins 5 below the cross plate 2.

The tubular section 1 has an upper edge 7 which is circular and whose inner diameter corresponds to the outer diameter of the cross plate. A support surface 8 is formed within the section 1, on which the cross plate rests when the mouthpiece is assembled. Furthermore, two holes 9 are provided in the section 1, which serve to accommodate the locking pins 5 and fix the cross plate 2 in the tubular section 1. To increase the dimensional stability of the mouthpiece, a web 10 runs between the two holes 9.

In Fig. 4, a longitudinal section through the mouthpiece is shown, which runs along the web 10. It can be seen that the cross plate 2 fixes the film 3 when the cross plate 2 is inserted into the tubular

shaped section 1 and locked into it. The film 3 forms two areas, namely, on the one hand, a valve section 11 serving as a check valve and located inside the tubular section 1, and on the other hand, a collar section 12 remaining outside the tubular section 1, which extends over a relatively wide area around the tubular section 1 and prevents direct skin contact between the person providing the breath and the person being ventilated during ventilation. A similar section is shown in Fig. 5, but this is a cross-section transverse to the longitudinal axis of the web 10. The function of the valve section 11 of the film 3 is evident in this section. When the breath dispenser blows into the mouthpiece from above, an overpressure builds up in the openings 4, whereby the film 3 in its valve section 11 is pressed downwards into the position shown in dashed lines in Fig. 5, so that an air flow through the openings 4 of the cross plate 2 and the opening 6 in the valve section 11 is made possible.

However, if the ventilated person exhales, an overpressure builds up within the tubular section 1, which brings the foil 3 in its valve section 11 into contact with the cross plate 2, i.e. into the position of the valve section 11 shown in solid lines in Fig. 5. In this case, there is no connection from the interior of the tubular section 1 to the openings 4 of the cross plate 2. This prevents blood, vomit or germs from the ventilated person from reaching the respiratory donor in the event of uncontrolled exhalation, coughing or the like. The respiratory donor has to ensure a controlled breathing process.

Deviating from the embodiment shown, the locking of the cross plate 2 in the tubular section 1 can also be carried out in such a way that the cross plate 2 can only be released from the tubular section 1 by destroying the locking pins.
