Motorcycle wind visor adjuster

This invention relates to motorcycle helmets and in particular relates to motorcycle helmets with a hidden wind visor adjustment device having the features specified in claim 1.

In the past, motorcycle helmets did not often have suitable adjustable wind visors. On the helmets that did have suitable adjustable wind visors, the wind visors could only be adjusted and secured in a narrow range of angular orientations. Furthermore, the previous wind visors for motorcycle helmets were not adjustable in different orientations according to the needs of the motorcyclist.

Referring to Figs. 1 to 4, it can be seen that the present invention comprises a motorcycle helmet 1, a wind visor 2, a U-shaped support 4, a sliding ring 5 and a

Cover plate 3 included.

The windshield 2 has two sighting rings 21 at each of its distal ends, and each of these sighting rings 21 has a friction track 211 on its outer surface. Each of these sighting rings 21 also has an annular recess 212 on its inner circumference.

The slip ring 5 has an annular projection 52 thereon for rotatably connecting to the annular seat 212. The slip ring 5 also has a friction piece 53 thereon for frictionally connecting to the friction track 211. The slip ring 5 has inner walls 51 on its inner circumference with two mounting slots 511 spaced diametrically opposite therein.

The U-shaped bracket 4 has a central portion with a hole therethrough and two side portions. Each of the side portions has a respective locking member 41 on an outer surface thereof. The two side portions are flexible so as to be connectable to the fastening slots 511. The U-shaped bracket 4 has a hole at its central portion to be connectable to the motorcycle helmet 1 by a bolt 14. A locking pin 42 protrudes from one side of the central portion to be connected to

The cover plate 3 is intended to cover the visor ring 21, the slide ring 5 and the U-shaped support 4, thereby giving the helmet a much more aesthetically pleasing design. The cover plate 3 has an annular wall 32 on an inner surface thereof which is frictionally engageable with an inner surface of the U-shaped support 4. The cover plate 3 has a plurality of equally spaced mounting studs 31 protruding from its inner surface. The motorcycle helmet 1 has a plurality of connecting holes 11 corresponding to the mounting studs 31, the mounting studs 31 passing through the connecting holes 11 and being fasteningly connected to a corresponding plurality of socket members 13,

To use the present invention, the user simply moves the wind visor 2 into the desired angular orientation. The visor ring 21 can be frictionally secured around the sliding ring 5 in a wide angular range.

Since various possible embodiments of the above invention can be made without departing from the scope of the invention, it is to be understood that everything described here or shown in the accompanying drawings is to be considered as illustrative and not in a limiting sense. It is to be appreciated that the drawings are exemplary of a preferred embodiment of the invention.

Motorcycle visor adjustment device for a motorcycle helmet, characterized by, a) a wind visor (2) having respective visor rings (21) at each distal end, each visor ring (21) having a friction track (211) on an outer surface, each visor ring (21) also having an annular receptacle (212) on an inner periphery, b) a sliding ring (15) having an annular projection (52) for rotatably connecting to the annular receptacle (212), the sliding ring (5) also having a friction piece (53) thereon for frictionally connecting to the friction track (211), the sliding ring (5) having inner walls (51) on an inner circumference with two fastening slots (511) arranged diametrically and oppositely to each other at a distance from each other therebetween, c) a U-shaped support (4) having a central portion with a hole therethrough and two side portions, the side portions each having a respective locking member (41) on an outer surface thereof, the two side portions being flexible to be connectable to the fastening slots (511), the U-shaped support (4) is attachable to the motorcycle helmet with a bolt (14) at its central portion, wherein a locking pin (42) protrudes from one side of the central portion to be connectable to a locking hole (15) in the motorcycle helmet to prevent rotation of the U-shaped carrier (4), d) a cover plate (3) for covering the visor ring (21), the sliding ring (5) and the U-shaped carrier (1), the cover plate having an annular wall (32) on an inner surface which can be brought into frictional engagement with an inner surface of the U-shaped carrier (4), the cover plate having a plurality of evenly spaced fastening stubs (31) protruding from the inner surface thereof, the fastening stubs (31) fitting through a plurality of connecting holes (11) formed on the motorcycle helmet corresponding to the fastening stubs (31), the fastening stubs (31) being connected to a plurality of socket parts (13) for fastening, and the visor ring (21) being fixable around the sliding ring (5) in a wide angular range.
