The invention relates to a holder for a dumbbell, in particular a dumbbell with a barbell having a grip area and weights arranged outside the grip area, such as weight plates, wherein the holder is detachably arranged on a support of a weight bench in particular.

Barbells are held between the weights by both hands. The barbell bar has a length that exceeds the width of the weight bench and the distance between the supports, which preferably run vertically. Hooks or similar items are arranged on the supports themselves, preferably in a height-adjustable manner, which are designed to hold the barbell bar so that the barbell can be put down.

Dumbbells are always only held by one hand. The distance between the weights is chosen so that there is enough space to hold the barbell with one hand. The holders used for barbells are clearly not suitable for dumbbells because their length does not extend from support to support on the weight bench. When doing exercises on a weight bench, however, it is necessary to be able to put the barbell down above the body.

The purpose of this innovation is to provide a holder for a dumbbell in particular, which allows the dumbbell to be held securely using simple structural measures, whereby the elements present in particular on a weight bench are to be used.

The object is essentially achieved in that the holder has spaced-apart receptacles for the weights and that the receptacles are connected via connecting elements which extend directly or indirectly from the support.

If, according to the state of the art, the barbell itself is placed on a holder, the weights are held by the holder according to the new proposal. Since the holder no longer engages the barbell, the grip area of the dumbbell is still available for free use, so that problems when putting the barbell down or lifting it do not arise. The holders, which are preferably adapted to the outer contour of the weights in some areas, are connected via connecting elements such as profile elements, which in turn extend from a sleeve that is arranged on the support so that it can be moved lengthwise. In particular, the holders, which, for example in the case of weight plates, are bowl-shaped as weights and follow the course of a cylinder jacket section and are made of sheet metal, are connected to one another via two profile irons, one of which extends from the side surfaces of the sleeve and the other is connected to the front surface. The first connecting element therefore consists of two sections, between which the sleeve runs.

The holder itself is of course designed in such a way that it ensures that the dumbbell cannot slide out of the holder by itself. Rather, the holder must first be lifted vertically in order to bring the dumbbell into contact with the holder.

Of course, the new holder does not necessarily have to be attached to a weight bench support. Other fastening elements are also possible. However, the holder is preferably intended as an additional element for a bodybuilding device in order to enable dumbbells to be used without any problem for training the body.

Fig. 1 shows a front view of a weight bench (10) which has a horizontal lying surface (12) and supports (14) and (16) extending from this in the head area, to which additional equipment such as Sutterfly devices or similar can be detachably arranged. According to the innovation, holders (18) and (20) can be arranged on the supports (14) and (16), which make it possible to accommodate dumbbells (22) and (24) in such a way that there is no hindrance for the athlete.

Since in the exemplary embodiment the weights (34), (36), (38), (40) are designed as discs, the receptacles (42), (44), (46), (48), which are made of sheet steel, show the ^{longitudinal direction} of the grip area (30) or (32). In this way, the forward free end (50) of each holder (42), (44), (46), (48) extends so far in front of the central axis that the dumbbell (18) or (20) can be securely fixed. An uncontrolled rolling out of the holder (42), (44), (46), (48) is therefore no longer possible.

It should also be noted that the holders (42), (44), (46) and (48) can have support or holding walls (84), (86), (90) and (92) at least on the inside, i.e. in the areas facing each other, which ensure that the dumbbells (22) and (24) are securely positioned laterally.
