Description

The innovation relates to a folding roof, in particular for passenger cars, such as convertibles, consisting of an outer covering into which at least one rear window is integrated and an inner covering adapted to the shape of the outer covering.

In the past, convertible tops consisted of just an outer skin that was stretched over a folding rod. Recently, however, these folding tops have also been fitted with an inner covering that is pulled under the folding rod. This conceals the folding rod and increases the thermal insulation and soundproofing of the folding top. In addition, the risk of injury when folding the top is significantly reduced, as the operator can no longer get his hand caught in the folding mechanism, as it is covered by the inner covering. For structural reasons, the inner covering around the rear window was firmly connected to the outer covering, for example by sewing or gluing.

If damage occurred to the outer covering or the inner covering, both coverings had to be replaced. This was very expensive and required a lot of material.

The aim of the innovation is therefore to create a folding roof/ especially for passenger cars, such as convertibles, in which the outer covering and the inner covering can be replaced separately from each other.

According to the innovation, the problem is solved in that the inner covering is at least partially connected to the outer covering in the peripheral area of the rear window with a detachable connecting element. In an advantageous embodiment of the innovation, the inner covering is connected to the outer covering around both side edges and the upper edge of the rear window with the detachable connecting element!

The detachable connecting element is preferably a zipper.

By using, for example, a zipper as a detachable connecting element between the inner covering and the outer covering, the interchangeability of either the inner covering or the outer covering is possible in

In Figure 1, the outer covering 1 is only partially shown, since it is largely covered by the inner covering 2. The rear window 3 is inserted into the outer covering in the usual way, for example by gluing, vulcanizing, connecting profiles made of rubber or similar.

As can be seen in particular from Figure 2, the outer covering 1 has an edge cover 5 in the area of its connection points 4 with the rear window 3. Adjacent to this edge cover 5 there is a piping 6, which is part of the inner covering 2.

In the area of this piping 6 and in the area of the edge cover 5, a zipper 7 is arranged, one half of which is attached to the edge cover 3 and the other half to the piping 6.

In the preferred embodiment, the zipper 7 runs along the two side edges and the top edge of the rear window, with the beginning and end of the zipper 7 being at the height of the lower edge of the rear window. To make the zipper 7 easier to handle, it is designed to be extended beyond its connection points.

In another embodiment (not shown), the zipper 7 can run around the entire circumference of the rear window 3, so that the start and end points of the zipper 7 are in the same place*. The zipper 7 is also guided around the lower edge of the rear window 3. The area below the lower edge of the rear window 3 is therefore also designed as part of the interior covering 2.

In addition to a zipper, other connecting elements between the outer and inner covering can also be considered, such as Velcro fasteners, pressure fasteners, etc.
