Um den Zerfall des Gases, mit welchem die Flasche gefüllt werden soll, zu verhüten, werden Schutzmassen in die Flaschen eingefüllt und verdichtet. Zu diesem Zweck wird der Boden io entfernt und an seiner Stelle ein Füllrohr 2o, das mit einem dem Gewinde 8 entsprechenden Gewinde versehen ist, eingeschraubt. Das Siebrohr 28 verhindert hierbei den Austritt der Masse durch den Flaschenhals. Die Flasche wird mit der genau dosierten Menge Schutzmasse gefüllt, welche zunächst einen größeren Raum als den Flascheninhalt einnimmt, während der Überschuß im Füllrohr :2o Platz findet. Oben in die Schutzmasse wird das Sperrblech 14 durch den Preßkolben eingeführt und erfährt im Füllrohr durch die Funktion der Radialschlitze eine Verringerung des Außendurchmessers unter Aufnahme einer federnden Spannung. Mit zunehmender Verdichtung der Schutzmasse wird das Sperrblech durch den Preßkolben 2,2 mit nach unten genommen, und es rastet das Sperrblech 14 in der Endstellung in die Nut 12 ein, indem sich das Sperrblech 14 wieder ausdehnen kann. Nunmehr kann der Preßkolben 22 wieder zurückgefahren werden, ohne daß sich die verdichtete Schutzmasse lockern oder ihr Volumen wieder vergrößern kann. Nach der Entfernung des Füllrohres:2o wird der Boden io eingeschraubt. Die Löcher 16 im Sperrblech 14 dienen dem Durchtritt von pulverförmiger Masse zur Vermeidung von schädlichen Hohlräumen zwischen dem Sperrblech 14 und dem Boden io; die pulverförmige.
