Vacuum cleaner mouthpiece with a tiltable mouthpiece body

The invention relates to a vacuum cleaner mouthpiece according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such a vacuum cleaner mouthpiece is known from DE-PS 30 09 648. In this vacuum cleaner mouthpiece, the mouthpiece body is pivoted about its tilting axis by the forces acting on it as it slides over the vacuumed surface, so that it lies flat on the surface to be vacuumed, regardless of the position of the mouthpiece housing.

The invention is based on the object of forcibly pivoting the mouthpiece body of a vacuum cleaner mouthpiece in such a way that at least one working edge is used more intensively in the corresponding direction of movement.

The solution to the problem is achieved by the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1. The forces exerted on the suction pipe when the mouthpiece is moved back and forth cause the rods coupled to it to move axially back and forth between two end positions. This axial movement of the rods causes the mouthpiece body to be tilted so that, depending on the position of its tilt axis, at least one of its working edges is pressed more strongly against the surface to be suctioned. The forced tilting of the mouthpiece body depending on the direction of movement of the mouthpiece is achieved in a structurally simple manner.

1 designates a vacuum cleaner mouthpiece which has a tiltable mouthpiece body 2. The mouthpiece 1 is also provided with a protective body 3 which rests on the surface to be vacuumed and carries the entire mouthpiece. The mouthpiece body 2 is connected to a suction pipe 6 via a suction nozzle consisting of two pipe parts 28 and 29. One end 28a of one pipe part 28 is inserted into the other pipe part 29 so that the two pipe parts 28 and 29 can be moved telescopically against each other. The one pipe part 28 is also connected to a support plate 30 which is in turn attached to the support body 3. The one pipe part 28 is thus rigidly attached.

With its other end 28b, one pipe part 28 is hinged to the mouthpiece body 2, the axis of this joint being in the tilting axis 14 of the mouthpiece body 2. The other pipe part 29 is connected to the suction pipe 6 in a rotationally movable manner. The other pipe part 29 has guide pins 31 projecting laterally formed on it, through which the other pipe part 29 and the suction pipe 6 connected to it are guided in horizontal guide slots which are fixed to the support body 3.

The horizontal movement of the suction pipe 6 and the other pipe part 29 is converted into a tilting movement of the mouthpiece body 2 via a rod consisting of a U-shaped wire bracket 36. The wire bracket 36 is clamped with its yoke 36a into a groove 37 formed on the other pipe part 29. The wire bracket 36 is thus held on the other pipe part 29 without any further fastening parts. The leg ends 38 of the U-shaped wire bracket 36 are bent at a right angle and each engage in a slot 39 which is provided in ears 40 formed on the mouthpiece body 2. This achieves a rotatable connection between the leg ends 38 and the mouthpiece body 2. The mouthpiece body 2 is tiltably mounted by means of pivot pins 41 which engage in corresponding bearing holes 42 provided in the side walls 43 of the mouthpiece housing 44.

When working with the vacuum cleaner mouthpiece, the suction pipe 6 and the other pipe part 29 are moved back and forth according to the distance specified by the limiting slot 34. These back and forth movements are converted into corresponding tilting movements of the mouthpiece body 2 via the U-shaped wire bracket 36 connected to the other pipe part 29.
