Description
The invention relates to a method of preparing a with Platinum-covered molybdenum grid of an electrical discharge tube, which is a Contains carbonized tungsten thorium hot cathode. The invention also relates on an electrostatic charge ring with one prepared according to this method Grid.
It is already known that the covering of molybdenum grids with Platinum in tubes with a tungsten-thorium cathode suppresses the primary lattice emission.
It is also known that the suppression of the primary lattice emission is improved by the fact that a carbon suspension is placed on the grid covered with platinum applied and then the grid is annealed in a hydrogen atmosphere.
If the molybdenum wire is carbonized before platinizing, then it is the secondary emission is low.
The last two methods have the disadvantage that! they costly and are involved, and that the secondary emission is fixed, particularly low Has value. In transmitter tubes, however, it is often necessary that 'the secondary emission of the grid has a certain value that is not too low in order to generate a negative grid current or to avoid a grid current curve with a negative slope. It is therefore desirable that 'the secondary emission at the completely or almost completely finished tube can be adjusted.
In one method of preparing a platinum-covered molybdenum lattice an electrical discharge tube which contains a carbonized whiplash thorium hot cathode contains, is according to the invention after the degassing of the tube and after carbonization the hot cathode heated the latter so high that, a small amount of .carbon or Carbon compound evaporates from the cathode and is deposited on the grid. The secondary emission of the grating then assumes a low value, but can can be set to any desired value within certain limits, that the grid is heated for some time.
The invention will be based on the method described below explained in more detail.
.A . Molybdenum wire is electrolytic with platinum to a strength of at least i. Microns at such a current density that 'a black, varnish layer arises. The wire is placed on it in a hydrogen atmosphere Annealed at a temperature of about goo ° C until the color is gray. On it will from the wire wound a grid, which is mounted in a tube, in the one Wblfram-Tborium-Kathode is present. The cathode is on it in a known manner carbonized and then heated very high, almost to the melting point of tungsten. The primary emission of the grating as well as the secondary emission is then low. To reduce the grid current, the secondary emission can be increased by that the grid is heated very high on it for a few minutes. In the drawing is shown in curve i how the grid current depends on the grid voltage v g at depends on a wire that has not been reheated, and in curves 2, 3 and 4 shown how the grid current depends on the voltage in a reheated wire depends on the duration of the heating. .
