Durch den Zusatz von Tonerde gelingt es, sowohl die Biegefestigkeit als auch die Schlagbiegefestigkeit wesentlich zu steigern, so daß die mechanische Festigkeit von Steatit nahezu erreicht wird. Die erfindungsgemäße keramische Masse läßt sich im Trocken- und Naßpreßverfahren vorteilhaft bearbeiten. Auch können im Heißpreßverfahren ohne Schwierigkeiten beispielsweise Körper hergestellt werden, in die ein Gewinde eingedreht wird. Die Brenntemperatur liegt sehr niedrig, bei Segerkegel 5 bis 6, so daß sich auch der Brennvorgang äußerst wirtschaftlich gestaltet.
