Method for melting down electrical discharge vessels
The invention relates to a method of melting down electrical discharge vessels
and is particularly important for electron tubes of particularly small dimensions.
In particular, when electron tubes and the like are melted down in glass bulbs
with small tubes there is a risk that the glass bulb will be heated for a long time during
During the melting process, the system parts of the tubes cause inadmissible heating
Experienced. On the other hand, the cathodes are particularly sensitive, and so are others
System parts, so that when melted down the same under the influence of air or
the flame gases can be damaged. The invention is based on the object
to avoid this disadvantage and to find a meltdown process in which the
endangered system parts are not heated too high.
The invention eliminates the disadvantages mentioned and consists in
that the glass bulb is heated before the electrode system is inserted and that only
then the electrode system is introduced and then the tube, preferably through
Squeezing, is quickly closed. The heating of the flask before introduction
of the electrode system is carried out if necessary up to such a proximity to the softening temperature,
as the dimensional stability of the glass still allows. Here you can
possibly
suitable means are used to increase the dimensional stability. This leaves
z. B. can be achieved by suitable bearings and rotating movement of the glass bulb.
z. B. bei Einschmelztellern u. dgl.If the glass bulb has reached a sufficiently high temperature, it can

z. B. with melting plates and the like.
Fig. i zeigt dien Glaskolben i, der sich auf einem geeigneten Halter 2
Zu diesem Zwecke sind Rollenpaare i o, i i und 12 vorgesehen,
The invention will be explained in more detail using the figures: You
illustrate a melting process for the production of small tubes,
where otherwise the risk to the system parts during this melting down is particularly particular
is great. FIG. I shows the glass bulb i, which is on a suitable holder 2

be purged with a protective gas at the bottom. The direction of arrow 7 illustrates
thereby the influx of the gas. The glass bulb is heated by the
Flames 8 and 9, taking care that no impermissible deformation
of the glass bulb enters. For this purpose, pairs of rollers i o, i i and 12 are provided,
whose position can be seen in the upper part of FIG. By using this

veranschaulicht.
In Fig. 2 is the introduction of the system parts into the heated glass flask
illustrated. The glass bulb i is illustrated by the measures illustrated in FIG
has been brought to the necessary temperature, and now the electrode system is from above

fastened by a holding device 14 and can now be introduced quickly with the same
will. The support rollers io, i i and 12 as well as those now only weaker
Burning flames are for the sake of clarity in this and the following figures
mostly not shown in detail.
in Berührung kommt.3 shows the introduction of the electrode system 13 into the glass bulb
i illustrated with a slight modification. Here is already from a pre-degassing process
Use has been made of the system 13 residing in a suitable cartridge 15
is located. The system 13 has already been pre-degassed beforehand, the pipe 15
or another cartridge has been used. After pre-degassing has taken place
brought the system in the closure tube 15 on both sides over the glass bulb i.
The tube 15 may have previously been closed in a suitable manner, for example
at the upper end by a suitable plug 16 and at the lower end by a
tight-fitting cap 17, which is still equipped with a valve or tap and optionally
Pump port 18 is connected. The cartridge 13 can expediently until the introduction
are in the glass bulb i within a protective gas. During the introduction
in the glass flask is also indicated, as indicated by the arrow? is expressed
Purge gas introduced from below so that the system is not exposed to atmospheric air
comes into contact.
In Fig. 4 a further stage of the method is illustrated,
in which the system 13 has already been introduced into the glass bulb i. Here is the
Pinch point by the gas flames i9 and! 2o additionally heated for a short time.
In Figure 5 the final fused tube is illustrated. It
it should be emphasized that these processes take place rapidly one after the other
must, so that the system is introduced into the still soft glass and then immediately
the squeezing process takes place. The heating can actually be as it is in the
Illustrations is illustrated only at the stage of Fig. I and then by a
additional heating takes place according to Fig.4, while in Fig. 2 and 3 no heat
needs more to be supplied from the outside.
Achse sitzen. In Fig. 6 is a modification of the devices shown in this respect
illustrates when here the glass bulb is arranged horizontally. Furthermore
The melting process runs in the same way as the vertical one
Bracket, only special care must be taken here that no deformation
of the glass bulb enters the lying position. The glass bulb runs for this purpose
i on suitable rolls 21, 22 and 23, with three rolls on a common
Axis sit.
