Process for the preparation of oil-soluble emulsifying agents The sulfonates obtained by sulfochlorination of long-chain paraffin hydrocarbons, optionally with irradiation with short-wave light or in the presence of catalysts, and subsequent saponification of the sulfochlori, de obtained are known to be good wetting agents, detergents and cleaning agents. In connection with paraffin sulfamides or paraffin imides, they are also effective emulsifying agents for oils (cf. patent 747 403). However, the salts of the corresponding sulfonic acids with organic bases are considerably more effective. Their production, however, has not yet been easy to carry out, since the recovery of the free isulfonic acids is very laborious. Obtaining them from the sulfochlorides would, however, require 2 moles of the organic bases, quite apart from the fact that sulfamides are at least partially formed even in the presence of water.
It has now been found that the salts of organic bases can be mixed with sulfonic acids
of the type mentioned can be obtained in a very simple manner from their alkali salts,
if this is reacted with the chlorohydrates of the desired bases in aqueous solution.
The salt of the bases is then deposited on the resulting salt solution and
can thus be freed from bothersome impurities.
The salts of the long-chain paraffin sulfonic acids obtained in the manner indicated
with organic bases, e.g. B. Di- and triethanolamine, ethylenediamine, isobutylamine,
Diisobutylamine, hexylamine,
Cyclohexylamine, aniline, pyridine, are
excellent emulsifiers for oils; they can be made with emulsifying agents,
z. B. paraffin sulfamides or imides, as well as with corrosion prevention agents
unite to match their properties.
