Beim Schweißen von Rundnähten an Hohlkörpern mittels trberlappt-, Bördel-, Stumpf- oder Kehlnaht muß der Körper möglichst gleichmäßig gedreht werden, namentlich wenn die Schweißung automatisch durchgeführt werden soll. Nun haben aber solche Körper oft rauhe und nicht genau zylindrische Oberflächen, insbesondere springt die Längsschweißnaht, falls eine solche vorhanden ist, stark vor. Statt dessen kann man aber auch die Reifen zwei- oder mehrteilig ausführen und an den Stoßstellen verzapfen, damit sie gut auf den Rollen laufen. Zur Sicherung gegen axiale Verschiebung des Körpers kann man dem einen Reifen etwa U-Profil geben und zwischen die Schenkel des Profils die Laufrollen greifen lassen. Statt dessen kann aber auch die Rolle U-Profil haben und der Reifen zwischen die Flansche der Rolle greifen. Ferner können die bei Schienenfahrzeugen üblichen Führungsmittel zur Sicherung gegen axiale Verschiebung verwendet werden.
