Die Vorrichtung besteht aus einem Tuch, welches an einem Ende rechtwinklig zu den Seitenwänden des Fahrzeuges aufgehängt wird, während das Mittelstück flach auf dem Sitze aufliegt, vom Benutzer in seiner Lage festgehalten wird, und das andere Ende als Knie- und Fufsdecke bezw. Fufssack ausgebildet ist. Ein schmales, langes Tuch α ist an einem Ende an Oesen b bezw. Haken c aufgehängt und besitzt zur Bequemlichkeit des Reisenden Kopfpolster d und Kopf- und Armschlaufen e und/. Aufserdem sind in Querbügeln h und k Streifen i und i¹ untergebracht, auf denen ein Luftkissen g in der Längsrichtung des Tuches verschiebbar angebracht ist. Je nachdem nun das neue Krankentransporttuch in sitzender oder liegender Stellung benutzt werden soll, wird das Seitenstück / rechtwinklig zu α angeknöpft (Fig. ι und 3), oder in verlängerter Richtung von α (Fig. 4). Das Seitenstück Z endigt unten in einen Fufssack und besitzt eine Fufsdecke m, welche so geformt ist, dafs sie möglichst den ganzen Unterkörper bedeckt. Das flache, lange Tuch α wird nun, nachdem man die Enden b desselben z. B. an einem Gepäcknetz des Eisenbahnwagens dritter Klasse befestigt hat, in gestrecktem Zustande auf den Sitz gelegt und das verschiebbare Kissen je nach der Höhe und Lage des Sitzes bequem eingestellt. Man kann den Kranken alsdann ohne Weiteres auf das Kissen setzen und den Unterkörper im Fufssack bezw. Fufsdecke unterbringen. Durch das Eigengewicht des Kranken wird nun das Tuch α sowohl wie das Quertuch I festgehalten, so dafs der Obertheil des Tuches dem Reisenden eine elastische Stütze für den Oberkörper bildet, während der Untertheil bezw. der unter dem Sitz befestigte Untertheil / den Unterkörper aufzunehmen im Stande ist. Die Construction des neuen Transporttuches ermöglicht ein bequemes Sitzen sowohl (Fig. 3) als Liegen (Fig. 4).
