Roll calibration for the continuous rolling out of fine wire from steel E's has already been tried, thin and thinnest wires from unalloyed carbon steel, i. H. Wires of about 5 to 1.5 m in diameter instead of being produced by drawing in a continuous rolling process. Up to now, however, these attempts have not yet led to operational readiness, so that even today the production of the wires mentioned is always carried out in the drawing process. With such extremely small cross-sections of the rolling stock, particular problems arise, and one of the most important is the choice of the suitable caliber for the numerous roller passes lying one behind the other. As a matter of fact, a large number of caliber series is available for the rolling out of greater dimensions; However, it has been shown that the usual calibrations are not suitable for the continuous rolling of thin and extremely thin steel wires. So have z. B.- Stretching caliber series, in which square with oval calibers or oval with oval calibers or round with oval calibers, have proven to be unsuitable for various reasons. In any case, it has so far not been possible to take into account the most important requirements, such as good guidance, favorable spreading ratios, uniform cross-section reduction and favorable pressure distribution, in an approximately equally good manner by means of a suitable calibration.
Kaliber um go' kennzeichnet.
ohne weiteres verwirklichen lassen.
iio' hinausgehen. To remedy this, i. H. From the point of view of the formation of the roll profiling, to enable the continuous rolling of thin and thinnest steel wires in practice, the invention proposes a roll calibration which is characterized by the continuous use of rhombus calibers with a strong rounding of the caliber angle with mutual offset of the successive calibres by go '. A calibration of this type has the main advantage that too rapid cooling of the rolling stock is avoided due to the lack of pronounced edge formation, so that the risk of extremely disadvantageous rolling-in is definitely avoided. Furthermore, the rounding of the profile has a very favorable effect on the spreading ratios; in particular, this makes the occurrence of fold-through cracks impossible. Despite the strong rounding, the straightness of the roll profiles ensures good guidance of the rolling stock, so that even with the small cross-sections and the high rolling speeds there is no risk of falling over in the grooves. In addition, there is the advantage that a uniform cross-section decrease in the individual stitches and a favorable pressure distribution can easily be achieved with the new calibration. Finally, the ease with which the rolls can be manufactured is an important factor that cannot be overlooked. According to the invention, the radius of the rounding of the caliber angle can correspond to almost half the length of the side of the rhombus in the first stitch and also decrease relatively in the following stitches up to the pre-caliber for the finished base. The caliber angle should be more than go0 in all stitches after the pick, but not exceed iio 'with the exception of the penultimate stitch.
in zwölf aufeinanderfolgenden Stichen dargestellt.

In the drawing, in Figs. I to 12, the formation of the profiles is shown in twelve successive stitches. It can be seen from this that in the first stitch the circular starting material is introduced into a rhombus profile and that this profiling is retained until the last stitch, in which the transition to the round end profile takes place. It must be taken into account in the drawing that in reality the rolled profiles are offset from one another by go 'from pass to pass. The figures show the strong rounding with a relative decrease in the rounding radius in the successive passes up to caliber no. 8 as well as the good guidance of the rolling stock, which is nevertheless ensured due to the subsequent straight surfaces. The following table serves to supplement the drawing and gives an example ( rolling down from 5.3 mm to 1.5 mm) of the beneficial influence of the invention on the various factors of the rolling process, in particular on the reduction in cross-section and the pressure conditions in the individual calibers, which are to be regarded as very cheap because of their uniformity. The new calibration is primarily intended for the rolling of round material made of carbon steel, whereby the rolling can take place in the warm or in the cold state. But nothing stands in the way of going over to any other desired cross-section in the last stitch. Likewise, the invention can also be used 120 for the rolling out of wires made of alloyed natural material.
