Description
Extraction of juice from sugar beet The invention represents a new method of extraction of juice from sugar beets, according to which the cleaned beets contrary to the previous diffusion process either in the raw state or after steaming in a pulp form and prepared by means of Centrifuges or suction filters can be juiced.
The new process is based on juicing the sugar beet using centrifuges or suction suction, in which the sugar beet after washing in the raw state or after steaming in appliances similar to potato steamers with electric or Steam heating and automatic. Emptying with suitable cutting machines such as Cutting grinders, similar to meat grinders, or machine grinders turned into pulp and the latter after mashing with hot beet juice obtained at the beginning operation with hot water, spun off in centrifuges or by suction is sucked off, whereby the juice including cover or waste water from the in the centrifuge or suction filter remaining cell substance of the beet, which is still about 0.3 until i °! o contains sugar, is separated off.
The new process has the advantage over the previous diffusion process that the juice separated in the centrifuges or the like only comes into contact with the air for a very short time, which has a beneficial effect on the color of the juices and also that from the centrifuges or the like. Like. Beet residues that have been continuously removed have a very light, almost white color and can be returned to the beet supplier with 3o to 40% dry matter. After the diffusion process, the beet residues are pressed out in heavy presses with great effort, whereby a maximum of 13 to 15% dry matter is achieved. Another advantage is that in the diffusion process 100 to 100 kg of water are required for every 100 kg of beets, while the process according to the invention only requires about 25 to 35%, which means that correspondingly less fuel is required is required for heating and vaporizing the juices in the sugar industry.
