Sicherheitsventile für brennbare, explosive oder giftige Gase dürfen nicht in die Maschinenräume ausblasen. Strömungsgeräusche täuschen sehr oft, weil bei den übrigen Geräuschen im Raum ihre Herkunft ungewiß ist. Eine auffällige Temperaturveränderung tritt nicht bei allen Gasen ein und auch nur dann, wenn die Undichtigkeit schon verhältnismäßig groß geworden ist. Eine Kontrolle könnte durch Einschaltung eines Dreiwegehahns in die Abströmleitung erzielt werden, wenn dieser so eingestellt wird, daß normalerweise das Gas vom Sicherheitsventil zum drucklosen Raum strömen kann. Zur Kontrolle müßte der Hahn dann so gedreht werden, daß die Leitung zum drucklosen Raum abgesperrt und unmittelbar am Hahn freigegeben wird. Dann besteht aber die Gefahr, daß die Rückstellung des Hahns in die Normalstellung vergessen wird.
