Durch einen Luftsauger t wird ein kräftiger Luftstrom erzeugt, welcher den Apparat von unten nach oben durchzieht. Das aus der Rinne g abfallende Malz gleitet bei seinem Durchzug durch den Apparat von einem Ablenkungsblech ρ nach dem andern, wobei das Malz gut vertheilt wird, die schweren Malzkörner ungehindert abwärts gelangen und die leichteren Theile, wie Keime, Staub und¹ Hülsen, von dem entgegenziehenden Luftstrom mitgerissen, zum Theil unmittelbar durch die Oeffnungen q und zum Theil durch das Rohr selbst auf dem durch die Bretter ρ bedingten wellenförmigem Weg vom Malz abgesondert werden, um schliefslieh durch die Auswurföffnung ν auszutreten. Zweckmäfsig erscheint es, zwischen dem Rohr h und Luftsauger t eine Vorrichtung zum Auffangen der schwereren Verunreinigungen anzuordnen. Dieselbe besteht aus einem V-förmigen Behälter h\ in dessen oberem Theil eine Scheidewand h² angeordnet ist. Indem die Luft diesen^x Behälter in der in der Zeichnung angegebenen Pfeilrichtung durchzieht, fallen die schwereren Theile nach unten und sammeln sich in der Spitze an. Hier ist eine Klappe s vorgesehen, welche dem Drucke des sich ansammelnden Materials schliefslieh nachgiebt und demselben den Austritt ins Freie selbsttätig gestattet. Nach erfolgter Entleerung schliefst sich die Klappe sofort wieder unter der saugenden Wirkung des arbeitenden Flügelrades t.
