T' Puffer für Webmaschinen T ' buffer for weaving machines
Nach dem Berühren e'er oberen Enden wird der Puffer, wieThe invention relates to a buffer for catching the baton after the blow. Today, U-shaped rubber fabric buffers with leather covering are mostly used for this purpose. At first glance, these buffers give the impression that they catch the baton particularly softly. However, appearances are deceptive, as measurements, i.e. recordings of the buffer's spring diagram, have shown. These well-known U-shaped buffers are designed in such a way that the upper ends touch when pressed together. Measurements on such a buffer, which had not been on the loom for two months, have shown that when the upper ends were touched, not even half of the work required to catch the baton (measured in cmkg) had been absorbed. After touching the upper ends, the buffer is, as
Instead of the desired even increase in force, the spring diagram is initially much too flat (the buffer therefore absorbs too little energy before touching the upper ends), only to rise steeply after touching the ends. The maximum braking force that occurs at the end is correspondingly large. This is also the cause of the heavy wear of the leather pads observed in these known buffers. As is well known, these buffers also tend to bend sideways over time, so that the baton no longer hits the middle of the buffer and/or has to be readjusted. Despite the defects described, this type of buffer is the most widely used in Europe today because there was no better buffer on the market.
The buffer according to the invention does not have the disadvantageous force-displacement curve with the kink described, but rather a more or less straight-line rise in the spring diagram, with the result that, with the same total spring travel, the maximum braking force that occurs is significantly smaller. This increases the service life of the batons.

The buffer according to the invention consists of four disc springs which are connected to one another at the outer edge and at the bore, preferably by snap connections. There are known baton buffers with disc springs in which the discs are arranged in a housing or other iron guide. These buffers require very precise adjustment of the buffer, otherwise the baton will hit the iron guide. Tests with such buffers have shown, however, that disc springs made of suitable polyurethane elastomers have an enormous service life. Investigations on such buffers showed, for example, that the disc springs were still fully usable after 40 million shots. Their spring effect has not diminished during this long period. The disc springs have not yet shown any cracks and only minimal wear. Since the buffer according to the invention also uses disc springs in the proven design, new buffers - as longer tests have shown - show no reduction in the spring effect. Since the front disc spring rotates slowly during operation, the baton does not wear in, especially when using a baton sleeve with a leather cover. Tests have shown that there is still no visible wear after months of use.
Surprisingly, the buffer according to the invention also works more quietly than the known fabric buffer. The buffer according to the invention does not require expensive reinforcement inserts. The disc springs can be manufactured economically using an injection molding process.

ist. or ih fk*£c hrr<*Z?heb j
A hole 15 is provided in the disc springs, which creates a connection with the outside air. This hole advantageously reduces the rebound of the buffer and thus the hurling back of the baton. The hole also cools the buffer by constantly sucking in air. The baton 16 to be intercepted is shown in section. It has a known baton sleeve 17 to which the movable leather pad 1! is attached. The front 19 of the leather pad, which is heavily greased on the side facing the sleeve, is movable in all directions, so that there is practically no movement between the leather pad and the buffer and thus almost no abrasion.
Fig. 2 zeigt den Puffer in Seitenansicht in kleinerem Maßstab. Fig. 2 shows the buffer in a side view on a smaller scale. The buffer in Fig. 2 is provided with a pad, preferably made of leather, which surrounds the buffer with some play. The leather pad is heavily greased on the inside so that it slides easily on the buffer. The front of the leather pad is - like the leather of the baton sleeve - sufficiently flexible in all directions. The leather pad has two to three holes for the fastening screw so that it can be used in several places.
The buffer is mounted in a known manner on an angle iron 21, which is attached with two screws to a second angle 22, which is screwed to the loom wall 23. The long holes 24 make it possible to adjust the distance of the buffer from the loom wall and its inclination to the respective requirements.

When connecting the middle disc springs 2 and 3 according to Fig. 3, no special connecting piece is required. The connection is made, as can be seen from Fig. 3, by a snap connection like on the outer edge of the TeHer springs.
Fig. 1 J shows another embodiment of the connection of the middle disc springs. The two disc springs 2 and 3 are connected with two offset sheet metal parts 25 and a large hollow rivet 26. Instead of a hollow rivet, the two parts 25 can also be connected with a screw, which can be provided with a through hole to create the air connection.
