Fulling process It is known that solutions are used for fulling fiber materials
of malt, malt preparations, glucose or grape sugar alone or in combination
To be used with soap or sodium carbonate. It is also known for acid milling
of wool to use sulfuric acid esters of aliphatic alcohols. Furthermore, was
already proposed to carry out the fulling process using aqueous
Solutions of ester- or ether-like condensation products, which differ from polyvalent ones
Alcohols with at least four hydroxyl groups on the one hand and carboxylic acids or alcohols
with at least six carbon atoms in the molecule on the other hand derive and the
still contain free hydroxyl groups.
It has now been found that the alkali salts of the polysaccharide ethers
of oxycarbohic acids or oxysulfonic acids have the property of having the fulling process
to favor in neutral, acidic or alkaline means.
Compared to the above-mentioned known fulling process, the new one offers
Method has the advantage of a particularly strong product jump or for a given one

Products are characterized by a good and even felt formation, by a
firm and robust grip and characterized by high tensile strength and elasticity.

The advantages of the new fulling process over the known processes are illustrated by the following comparative tests: Six pre-washed, completely identical pieces of raw cloth, all of which come from the same spinning section and from the same loom, are milled one after the other on the same fulling machine with the various fulling agents with the addition of ioo ° / o of the weight of the goods water: all six milling tests differ only in the type of milling agent used. As a measure of the success of flexing, the area of the goods that can be achieved in 4.5 minutes is used. The results of the tests are shown in the following summary: Milling agent used. Achieved

Ilan can see from these results that the area of the product is strongly dependent on the hydrogen ion concentration of the milling liquid, but that with the same hydrogen ion concentration, the penetration achieved when using the sodium salt of cellulose glycolic acid ether is much greater than when using the known milling agents.
The present invention thus enables the flexing process to be carried out more gently

Since the alkali salts of the polysaccharide ethers of oxycarboxylic acids or
Oxysulfonic acids are largely compatible with other salts, can also be used in
Work in the presence of such salts, such as potassium formate or atrium lactate,
reduce the tension of the water vapor considerably. This causes the evaporation
of the water restricted during the fulling process, so that water can be poured in
mostly unnecessary and the whole process runs smoothly.
82 kg.Example i A piece of uniform cloth weighing 3z, 8 kg, consisting of about 30% virgin wool, 4o '/, shredded wool and 30 ° o viscose wool, is freed from all grease residues from the previous manufacturing processes by thorough washing and rinsing. Then the piece is thrown off in the centrifuge to a total weight of about 60 kg. It then shows a pH of 7.5, so it is practically neutral. The piece of cloth is then poured on the wall machine with a neutral solution of 100 g of the sodium salt of cellulose glycolic acid ether in 10 1 of water. The milling process runs completely smoothly with only a small amount of milled flakes. After a flexing time of 1 hour and 55 minutes, the required jump of 5i.o m to 38.0 n1 in the warp direction and from z, io ni to 1.40 111 in the weft direction is reached. The product has a pH value of 7.5 and after completion shows a very full, smooth and robust handle and clear colors. The tear strength at a clamping width of 9 cm in the Schopper apparatus is 87 kg in the warp direction and 82 kg in the weft direction.
