Description
Carbonic acid absorption compound, in particular for the cartridges of respiratory protective devices The invention relates to the production of a caustic alkali containing carbonic acid binding material, especially for filling those used in respiratory protection technology Alkali cartridges is suitable.
It is known for the filling of alkali cartridges with alkali hydroxide to use. This is generally filled into the cartridges in a granular form. The alkali hydroxide can also be used in other forms, e.g. B. on any carrier applied to be used to fill the alkaline cartridges.
The use of caustic alkaline absorbent material results in the disadvantage that the caustic alkali during ventilation of the alkali cartridge under the effect of breath moisture z. T. liquefied and the lye under certain circumstances flows out of the cartridge. This problem is caused by adding barium hydrate tried to eliminate the caustic alkalis. It has also become known, essentially from caustic alkali to produce carbonic acid-binding masses in such a way that in molten caustic alkali, which according to a special proposal anhydrous, after a Another suggestion should be as pure as possible, burnt Kalle registered and on it the melt is processed into a granular material. The quick lime should be as finely powdered as possible according to one suggestion. Another suggestion goes to treat granular caustic alkali with a stream of gaseous acids to get through the alkali salt forming on the grain surface to prevent leaching. Farther it is known to add aluminum or zinc oxide to the masses consisting of caustic alkali. Finally, there is one more proposal to remove the carbonic acid-binding masses from easily hydrolyzable compounds, such as. B. aluminates o. The like. To form. Through this Measures could reduce the leaching of the cartridges, but not completely eliminate it "-earth. In addition, the absorption compounds treated in this way have the disadvantage that they are msolilic acid to be included only to a limited extent.
Invention geinaß should now all of the disadvantages mentioned by the Use of a mixture of alkali hydroxide, aluminum oxide, soda, alkaline earth carbonate and / or alkaline earth oxide are eliminated. Instead of Altnninminoxvd, aluminum hy-droxcd and instead of alkaline earth oxide, alkaline earth metal hydroxide can be used. 7.t1 the alkaline earths here also include magnesium. Show such mixtures practically no tendency to lye and exceed in terms of carbonic acid absorption the known absorption materials far.
It is advantageous to use mixtures. those next to Alkalilivdroxvd about 2 to 3% soda, about 6 to 10% aluminum oxide or hydroxy-d and about o; until S °; '° contain calcitiine carbonate or Calciunio-kvd.
The "#isorption material" can also contain small amounts of water, up to about 120/0. The water can be added to the mixture e.g. B. in liquid form or in whole or in part as water of crystallization of one of the components, e.g. 13. in the form of crystallized soda can be added. All or only part of the water can be contained in the surface of the mixture. Such a material is obtained, for example, by treating an originally anhydrous material with a stream of moist air. In the manufacture of alkali cartridges, this treatment is expediently carried out after the cartridges have been filled with absorption material. Embodiments 1. 30 kg of caustic alkali are introduced into a crucible with 3 kg of crystallized soda, 2 kg of aluminum oxide and oj kg of calcium carbonate with the addition of 100% of water and melted. : After you have thoroughly stirred the Schinnets, the mixture, which has a water content of about 411 ', is poured into plates, breaks them and sifts the material obtained to a grain size of 2 to 4 minutes. You can also use the mixture 2. 30 kg of caustic soda are mixed with 2 kg of crystallized soda, 2.8 kg of aluminum oxide and 1.0 kg of barium carbonate, melted and, after thorough stirring of the melt, further processed as indicated in Example i.
3. 30 kg Ätznatron «erden finit 2,5 kg kristallisierter Soda, 2,3 kg _@luminiumhydr@sy-d und o,8 kg Magnesiumoxvd gemischt und geschmolzen. Die Schmelzmasse wird auf Träger aufgegossen, wobei man vorteilhaft poröse Träger verwenden kann, die nur auf ihrer Oberfläche mit einem Überzug der Absorptionsmasse versehen sind.3. 30 kg of caustic soda earth finitely 2.5 kg of crystallized soda, 2.3 kg of luminiumhydr @ sy-d and 0.8 kg of magnesium oxide mixed and melted. The molten mass is poured onto a carrier, it being possible to advantageously use porous carriers which are provided with a coating of the absorption mass only on their surface.
The materials prepared according to the examples are known in Way filled in alkaline cartridges.
