Bunging apparatus for mercury and water filling The invention relates to beer bung apparatus, in which serving as a sheet of liquid mercury is added to a jacketed, cylindrical vessel such that two communicating liquid columns are formed, which level difference is a measure of the pressure of the solid carbon dioxide.
beträchtlich trerlangsa:men und beruhigen. The invention is based on the object of the mercury movement,
which, when the development of carbonic acid suddenly increases, is often so strong that the
Mercury with torn out and its level reading becomes inaccurate, moderate,
by opposing resistances to the gas flow all the way through the bung
the moderate ones. Hardly prevent gas passage, but a stronger gas flow
considerably slow down and calm down.
There are already bungers with built-in., Helical
and zigzag pathways that calm the gases through.
built-in resistances by splitting or changing the direction of the gas flow
want. However, these devices are intricate in design
not easy to create and of little effect because of the changes in direction given
constitute only insignificant resistances for the gas flow.
In
With the invention, on the other hand, a significant change in direction is achieved in the simplest possible way in any, repeatable form, because the tubes forming the working legs are filled with screw sections which, with a slight slope, change the direction of the aisle after one or a few slopes turning back. If, for example, the screw pitch is kept smaller than the diameter of the screw and the length is equal to one to two pitches, then a large number of almost complete changes of direction can be achieved even in an apparatus of commercially available dimensions. In the drawing, a bung apparatus designed in this way is shown in an exemplary embodiment to illustrate the invention. a According to this, the bung device essentially consists of two tubes a and b plugged into one another, which are connected to each other at the bottom, but are closed off from the outside by the bottom c, while they are kept separated at the upper end by the filter attachment d. The filter attachment has a central inlet nozzle e and at the edge several outlet holes f, which are connected to the shell space via the filterdra.htmschette g. The filling with mercury takes place up to the middle of the tubes, approximately up to the marking AB, from where a scale h, of the completely or at this point transparent casing, the rise of the outer mercury level, in the case that the inner tube b at the connection e a Receives gas pressure, makes it readable. The novelty of this device is now the arrangement I of. Screw spindles in the inner tube and between the inner and outer tube. The spindles have alternating gear directions in sections, such that after two or two and a half inclines, for example, a right-hand screw breaks off and a left-hand screw begins immediately or at any suitable distance. The incoming gas flow, which becomes a gas bubble flow in the mercury, can therefore only rush through the pipes in the screw threads; the repeated reversal of direction thereby reduces its speed, compensates for the pressure surges and calms it down. in such a way that the exit level can be easily read and a rupture of mercury is further avoided. The filter attachment d is arranged to catch any mercury droplets that may still be entrained. It represents a closing cap for the casing tube a with an embedded filter wire sleeve g, I which receives the inflow of the exiting gas from below through the bores i in the longitudinal direction and allows the pure gas to exit radially through the sieve casing k. while the collected mercury drips back across the openings i.
The outer tube is useful in order to check the functioning
to be made entirely of transparent material (hard glass or cellulose pressed material),
but it is also possible, the outer housing with individual glass windows, in particular
in the area of the scale, in the manner of the usual water level indicator.
The effect of the repeated turns of the screw also appears
in detail so clearly in appearance that it was a further pursuit of the idea of the invention
it is possible to use such screw threads to calm the fermentation gases in the supply lines
to be placed in front of the normal bung apparatus to allow the gases to calm down beforehand
to reach.
