Plastic masses made from polymers of vinyl chloride during deformation
of polymers based on vinyl chloride, for example polyvinyl chloride
themselves or from copolymers made from predominant amounts of vinyl chloride and others
polymerizable substances, splitting off occurs with prolonged exposure to higher temperatures
of hydrogen chloride and thereby discoloration. Also worsen here
de properties of the polymers. This inconvenience occurs especially when processing
of the polymers after the injection molding process in appearance, since they are longer
Are exposed to higher temperatures over a period of time.
.It has now been found that the addition of high molecular weight condensation products of aryl olefins and aromatic oxy compounds and / or their ethers stabilizes the polymers based on vinyl chloride in an excellent manner against the damaging effects of heat, so that they deform excellently when exposed to heat leave without being harmed. These high molecular weight condensation products are formed by the action of polymerizing acids or acidic condensing agents, for example those of the Friedel-Craft type, on mixtures of aryl olefins, in particular styrene, or divinylbenzene with aromatic oxy compounds, for example phenol or Resorcm, or ethers thereof, e.g. B. after the patents 695 178, 674 984 695 48 8 and 696 IO9 obtained. .
Beispiel
The masses of polymers based on vinyl chloride, which contain these condensation products, can be processed perfectly onto pipes, rods or profiles without the use of lubricants, which usually impair the mechanical properties. It is even possible to use high temperatures which allow optimum mechanical strength to be achieved without, as has hitherto been the case, the occurrence of hydrogen chloride being split off. It is also possible to process the masses properly using the injection molding process and thereby produce complex moldings yourself. As a result of the content of the condensation products mentioned, the compositions can also contain plasticizers without their water resistance being impaired as a result, as is otherwise easily the case. This is of considerable importance for the use of the masses in electrical engineering. Even relatively small additions of the condensation products are sufficient, e.g. B. 0.25 to 3 or 5% to achieve these beneficial effects. EXAMPLE 1 100 parts of polyvinyl chloride are rolled with one part of a resinous, high molecular weight product made from styrene and resorcinol at about 140 °. The mass obtained can be processed at about lyo to iSo 'on an extruder to form pipes or profiles or by injection molding to any shaped body, it can also be pressed in closed molds or rolled out into foils.

Beispiel 3 5o Teile feinpulvriges Polyvinylchlorid
One can also get the resinous product in the form of a solution in methanol
or introduce an aqueous dispersion into the polyvinyl chloride and then the solvent
or water evaporate on a f6'a1ze or in a kneader during the homogenization.

or cables as well as for the production of hoses or profiles. At 16o to i8o "
