Manufacture of a fluorescent substance For various purposes, in particular
of a photometric type, there is great interest in permanent fluorescent ones
Substances that fluoresce in yellow or red or in yellow and red. In particular
the substances that emit yellow and red light at the same time are for lighting technology
significant. The present invention relates to a process for production
a fluorescent substance based on a silicic acid compound of cadmium.
Salzes enthalten, d. h. Cadmiumsilicate mit einem Überschuß an Cadmiumoxyd.A neodymium activated cadtnium netasilicate (CdSi03), which is used in
a cathode ray excitation tends to purple fluorescence, is already known
also a luminescent substance that is produced by heating a mixture containing manganese
from cadmium chloride and sodium silicate. Also known are fluorescent
Substances containing cadmium oxide and silica in the proportions of a basic
Contain salt, d. H. Cadmium silicates with an excess of cadmium oxide.
Fluoreszenzhelligkeit nimmt nach kurzer Zeit erheblich ab.However, none of these substances are suitable for use in lighting technology
suitable because they are not at all under the action of ultraviolet rays
or, especially in the red area of the spectrum, fluoresce too little.
In addition, these substances age considerably when used in discharge tubes, i. H. their
Fluorescence brightness decreases considerably after a short time.
It has now been found that it is possible on the basis of silicate
to get an excellent orange glowing substance when using the invention
does not produce normal or basic cadmium silicates, but compounds
where the molar ratio of cadmium oxide to silica is 1: 1.5 to 4.
The high brightness and the spectral position of the fluorescent light
these connections enable a system that meets the requirements of lighting technology
Fills the spectrum of a mercury vapor discharge tube to a good white.
In addition, the new fluorescent substance has an extraordinarily high level of resistance
against the effects of the silver vapor discharge, d. H. its fluorescence brightness
practically does not decrease even with a very long service life of the discharge tube.
Substanz, z. B. Mangan. The excess silica required according to the invention can be achieved
by adding an appropriate excess of silica when preparing the annealing material
adds, or it by the wet way by precipitating a soluble cadmium salt
achieved using excess silica and precipitant.
Of the
Substance produced according to the invention requires the usual addition of activating agents
Substance, e.g. B. Manganese.
Fluoreszenzstoff. For the production of the mixture of cadmium oxide and silicon dioxide,
from which the described fluorescent substance arises when glowing, one can use different,
per se usual procedures ariwendc * ii. Either you fall out of a cadmium salt solution
by alkali silicate a cadmium silicate of the one prescribed according to the invention
Composition and glow the same after adding an activator, or mixing
Cadmium oxide with silica and an activating additive and this mixture glows,
or one mixes a cadinium salt that can be decomposed to cadmium oxide by annealing (e.g.
Cadmium nitrate) with silicic acid, or a silicon compound that yields silicic acid in the process of gluing,
and an activating additive and this mixture glows. Example In a mixing device
100 g of cadmium oxide are mixed well with 150 g of silica and 5 g of lngansilicate.
The mixture is heated to 100 ° for 1 hour in a refractory vessel and
cooled in the air. The result is a powdery, shimmering yellow-red color
Fluorescent substance.
