Description

Photographic developer L m To prevent the precipitation of lime deposits from salt-rich photographic solutions, in particular developers, which have been made up with lime-containing water, it has been proposed to add alkali meta- or pyrophosphates to the solutions. However, this addition loses in solutions that have been used for a long time, e.g. B. Trough developers. its effect. After a while, despite the addition of metaphosphates or pyrophosphates, flakes are deposited, which are presumably formed by the slow decomposition of the phosphates mentioned and by the flocculating effect of gelatin particles that get into the trough developer during development. The formation of alkali deposits in the solutions can be avoided permanently by adding aliphatic, nitrogen-containing polycarboxylic acids or their salts. Such polycarboxylic acids are described, for example, in "Liebigs Annalen" 122, pp: 269 and 276, and "Liebigs Annalen" 273, pp.231 and 234., also in German patent 638 071 and in French patent 804497 However, if developers with these additives are used improperly, under certain circumstances, especially in photographic materials with ammonia emulsions, precipitations of lime crystals occur on the emulsion layer itself Can be dissolved in acidic fixing baths or in dilute acetic or hydrochloric acid, this still means a time-consuming and laborious extra work which can be avoided by the present invention.
