Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Verbesserung
der Schaumwirkung von Saponinen, das darin besteht, daß man den Saponinen Glykolätherverbindungen
zusetzt. Auf diese Weise wird eine bedeutende Erhöhung der Schaumwirkung der Saponine
erzielt und damit eine sehr viel höhere Ergiebigkeit der Saponine erreicht. Die
Standfestigkeit des Schaumes kann durch Zusatz geeigneter Säuren, wie z. B. Weinstein-
oder Zitronensäure, erhöht werden. Als wesentlicher Vorteil kommt noch hinzu, da,ß
der notwendige Sapoivnzu.satz auf einen Bruchteil der bisher .angewendeten Menge
Herabgesetzt werden kann, ein Vorteil, der insofernvon großer Bedeutung ist, als
die Saponine den Nachteil der hämolytischen Eigenscaiaften zeigen, und es daher
bedeutsam ist., zur Erzeugung z. B. einer Schankbrause möglichst geringe Mengen
an Saponinen ver%veiiden zu können. Das neue Schaummittel ist in der fertigen Schankbrause
nur in Mengen von o,o r 5 bis 0,030/0 vorhanden. I.m übrigen wirkt sich aber die
.wesentliche Verbesserung der Schaumwirkung der Saponine auch in allen anderen Verwendungszwecken
durch den sparsamen Verbrauch an Saponinen äußerst günstig aus. Als die Schaumwirkung
verbessernde Zusatzstoffe für die Saponine können die verschieden.sben Glykolätherverbindungen
benutzt werden. Die praktischen Erfahrungen haben gezeigt, daß gute Erfolge sich
mit folgenden Verbindungen .erzielen lassen: Glykolm.onom,ethyläther, Glykoldimethyläther,
Glykolmonoäthyläther, Glykoldiäthyläther, Glykolm.onopropyläther, Glykoldipropyläther,
