Adhesive The invention relates to an adhesive which consists of
a solution of A-stage curable synthetic resins made from condensation products
of phenol, its homologues or substitution products with formaldehyde or its
Polymers in mixes ortho-, meta- or tetraboric acid or boric anhydride saturated,
about 96 percent by weight alcohol as well as o, t to o, 50'o better known as required
Synthetic resin hardeners, such as. B. diethyl sulfate, hydrochloric acid, etc.
Kleburig. Beispiel i 7o Teile eines wasserhellen Phenolformaldehydkondensationsproduktes
It was surprising. that even in the absence of non-evaporating plasticizers from polymers of acrylic acid bziv. Vinyl acid ester receives extremely strong bonds. The adhesive without plasticizer has the advantage that a shorter drying time is possible when used and durable, crack-free bonds, especially when gluing wood to wood, are obtained, which cannot be achieved with conventional curable synthetic resin solutions under the same conditions. Even if acids or neutral alkyl sulfates known as hardeners are added to the adhesive, whereby a smaller amount of hardener is sufficient than is otherwise used, the result is a firm, elastic, hard adhesive. EXAMPLE I 70 parts of a water-white phenol-formaldehyde condensation product in the A state are dissolved in 30 parts of about 96 percent by weight alcohol saturated with boric acid or boric anhydride at a temperature of 30 to 50 ° C, preferably with vigorous stirring in strong high-speed stirrers. If necessary, a simple heating and stirring by hand without the use of homogenizers is sufficient for this purpose. After it has cooled down again, the adhesive is ready for use. It is preferably used when gluing wood to wood. where, for example, it is best to proceed in the following way 1 @ - ird. Two dry wooden parts are 'coated with the adhesive according to example i and can. Already after 10 to 15 minutes they are placed on top of one another and hardened using 5 atmospheres pressure in a press at 60 to 70 ° C. in about ¢ hours without the addition of a hardening agent. Example z Shortly before consumption, about 0.3 010 (calculated on the synthetic resin) of a known hardening agent are added to the adhesive mixture according to Example i and stirred in evenly. Diethyl sulfate, for example, is used as a hardening agent, which is dissolved in the same amount by weight of 96% alcohol for uniform mixing.
statt. This adhesive is used to coat two wooden surfaces that are after
about 10 to 15 minutes after the coating has become a little harder, but still sticky
is, folded and under 1 atmosphere pressure for 2 to 5 days at room temperature
hardened. The adhesive hardens well even at room temperature
instead of.
