Schwankungen as
The invention relates to a steam-filled
electrical discharge vessel with between anode and oxide incandescent cathode
Control grid, for example a controlled rectifier or some other controllable discharge tube.
In particular, it is about a tube in which the steam filling
by evaporation of a vaporizable substance located at the bottom of the tube
under the influence of the heat radiating from the cathode, to which also a
Part of the heat emanating from the discharge can be added - is gained. With such tubes it is necessary that
Evaporation "of the metal supply during commissioning
to accelerate the tube as much as possible, otherwise there is a risk of damage to the hot cathode. The vaporizable
Metal is usually housed in a bag-shaped container at the bottom of the vessel. This container represents at the same time
the coolest part of the tube. The vapor pressure that is established in the vessel,
is mainly dependent on the temperature of this coolest place. Fluctuations as
the outside temperature therefore have with the usual discharge tubes with metal supply
usually a major influence on the operating pressure.
In order to achieve the desired pressure as quickly as possible, it has been proposed that the vessel cover be provided with a reflective metal layer
to cover and to train them in the manner of a concave mirror. With some types
In the case of discharge vessels, this design of the vessel wall is not readily possible.
It is also known for tubes with hot cathodes, which are supported by a thermal protection cylinder
are surrounded to form the protective cylinder so that the cathode heat after the supply
of the vaporizable metal is blasted and heats it up.
Durch die vorliegende Erfindung wird die .Aufheizung des Metallvorrates ohne zusatz-With the present invention, the heating of the metal supply without additional

menge entsprechend.bemessen.
Borrowed or accelerated the construction of the tube aggravating measures. According to the invention, in a vapor discharge vessel with a control grid arranged between the anode and the oxide incandescent cathode and a supply of vaporizable substance which is located at the bottom of the vessel, the control grid is designed as a metal screen that covers the cathode, only on its edge with passage openings for the discharge ίο so curved to concave after the vaporizable substance and is otherwise designed so that it throws the thermal radiation of the hot cathode onto the supply of vaporizable substance. Tubes with an intermediate electrode that is concave towards the vaporizable substance !! have already been developed, but they are always double grilles with staggered openings in the two grilles, and the purpose of these known constructions was to keep the light generated by a heating coil away from the inside of the tube. In the case of a tube according to the invention, on the other hand, only a control grid consisting of one part is designed as an effective factor and serves a completely different purpose, namely for more rapid heating of the metal supply. Because of the central uninterrupted point of the control grid in tubes according to the invention, the heat reflection is particularly good. This design of the control grid also has the advantage that about I particles detaching from the cathode do not '. get to the anode and re-ignitions; cause. By suitably shaping the screen, the amount of heat reaching the vaporizable substance can be measured accordingly. The fact that the control grid itself serves as a reflector also avoids the disadvantage that the thermal radiation would largely be intercepted by other electrodes or tube parts. | The figure shows an example of the practical implementation of the invention. The tube 10 has an indentation 11 which is provided with a pinch foot 12, so that an annular part 13 is created around the pinch foot. The annular bag 13 contains a vaporizable substance 15, for. B. Mercury. The pinch foot 13 carries a cathode 14 to which the heating current is supplied via the supply lines 16. The cathode can be constructed in any way and preferably consists of a helical wire coated with an emissive material. Furthermore, an anode 17 is provided which has a power supply 18.
The control grid is now provided as a curved metal screen 20 between the anode and the cathode. In the middle, ieser screen ie in the region between the cathode and anode "i ^^ full. The middle part 22 j.3je3ilSchinn.es thus prevents the impingement 'detached particles of the emissive'? Cathode material to the anode and is, therefore, against the security At the same time, it improves the heat-reflecting property of the control grid. At its edge, however, the screen is provided with openings 33 for the discharge to pass through.
The shape of the control grid is such that the heat radiating from the cathode
and partly the heat generated by the discharge on the vaporizable substance
15 is reflected. The course of the heat rays is indicated by the dashed lines 23,
24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 indicated. It is preferable to give the control grid the
Shape of a paraboloid or a spherical shell.
The control grid is carried by the rods 31 and 32, which also act as feed lines
so that the control grid is given a suitable voltage to control it
the discharge · can give.
The invention is of course not limited to tubes with the illustrated electrode arrangement
limited. Of course, various other electrodes can also be used,
z. B. grids, can be accommodated in the tube and also others from the one shown
different types of cathodes are used.
