Process for the production of easily scalable, dried, mineral garem
Leather It is known to dry chrome or alaungar leather and then to use it later
Further processing, e.g. B. for dyeing, roll up again, the leather with water
is softened. Wetting agents can also be used here. The one for this so far
However, the proposed wetting agents do not meet the requirements of practice
because they often supply leather that is difficult to color and evenly color
has a lower fat absorption capacity than leather, which is immediately after tanning
is further processed.
It has now been found that mineral leather can be dried and later
without any disadvantage can be waiked up again and then colored and finished, if you can
the folded leather is deacidified before drying and at the same time with, before or after
after deacidification treated with polyglycol ethers that are oil-soluble in the molecule
making aliphatic or aliphatic-aromatic radical and a polyglycol ether radical
with 3 to 7-C2 H4-0 groups and then dries. Such polyglycol ethers
are for example due to the action of ethylene oxide on caprylic, lauric, myristic,
Stearic or oleic acid, or on fatty alcohols such as octyl, lauryl, myristyl, cetyl alcohol
or sperm oil alcohols, also obtainable by reacting castor oil, or alkylphenols
such as isohexylpheriol or isooctylphenol with ethylene oxide.
in Wasser.

Polyglycol ethers whose polyether chain is made up of 5 to 6 moles of ethylene oxide and whose solubility in water is relatively low are particularly suitable. Although it is also known to use chrome leather d
by making it easy to increase that nt @
before drying it is treated with aqueous solutions of neutral polyoxy compounds which contain at least one ether group, or with polyether compounds which are distinguished by their high solubility in water. The polyglycol ethers used in the present process show only a relatively low solubility in water. In water they provide emulsions which, because of the simultaneous presence of a certain solubility of the polyglycol ethers they contain in oils and in water, make particularly leather, which naturally also contains fatty substances, easily wettable. As a result, the chrome leather can be easily re-stretched. - For example, ioo kg of folded chrome calfskin is poured in the running fulling barrel with an aqueous emulsion containing 1 kg of sodium bicarbonate and 0.5 kg of the product of 5 mol of ethylene oxide to 1 mol of isohexylphenol in 500 l of water for 4.5 minutes at 35 ° milled and then dried. The leather can easily be rolled up again at any time with warm water, dyed, greased and finished. Example e - '.' 100 kg of folded alaungar sheepskin is treated in a fulling barrel with a solution of 1 kg of borax in 500 liters of water at 35 ° for about 30 minutes, then in a fresh bath made from a mixture of 500 liters of water, 5 kg egg yolk, 2 kg of an oxidized trane (Moellon) and 1 kg of the product of action of 6 moles of ethylene oxide on 1 mole of castor oil at 0 ° for about 1 hour. The dried leather can be drummed up and dyed at any time with water.
