Differential pressure system for the indirect measurement of the length of a column of liquid
The invention is based on a differential pressure system for the direct measurement of the
Length of a column of liquid by means of an impulse generated by the column of liquid
is derived and, as a result, inclination-dependent and in equilibrium with a
Counterforce is. Acts z. B. with a vertical position of the liquid column as a pulse
the pressure difference H, this changes when the column of liquid is inclined
with the cosine function of the angle of inclination; because at an inclination of 90 °, d. H.
with the column in a horizontal position; the differential pressure has reached zero.
liegen. In Fällen dagegen, in denen z.
This phenomenon makes itself z. B. for water level indicators on ship boilers
noticeably disturbing. The lurching of the ship generally gives the illusion of sinking
of the boiler water level, so that there is an incorrect level display and with water level regulators
result in incorrect boiler feed. With the mentioned differential pressure systems, at
those who have the momentum in equilibrium with an opposing force can have this disadvantage
according to the invention are eliminated in that the counterforce in the same sense
how the impulse counteracting it changes with the inclination of the column of liquid
so that the measured value to be determined is always independent of the inclination of the column
proportional to the maximum value of the differential pressure existing in a vertical position
is. So if z. B. in the roll movement of the ship in the keel
Position vertical column of liquid inclines to one side or the other, so 'has
the change in the column of liquid (H # cos a) caused by this inclination germinate
Influence on the measured value to be determined because the counterforce changes at the same time
and thus the balance between the impulse and the counterforce is not disturbed
will.
It goes without saying that this elimination
the inclination dependency requires an inclination-dependent measuring pulse.
As a result, for the solution of the above. the invention is based
lying problem, a known measuring system not usable, that was also with the
Effect of a counterweight works, but in which the differential pressure system
applied pressure, e.g. B. in the case of back pressure in airspeed indicators, from the
Inclination is independent. In this known measuring device, the counterweight effect
if necessary, a compensation of the influence of the own weight, which is dependent on the inclination
the diaphragm box serving as a differential pressure system can be useful. The 31e13impuls
but here, as soon as it is inclination-dependent, it follows the cosine function of the inclination angle.
So it would be when using this known metering system for a liquid column
the measured value to be determined changes with the cosine of the angle of inclination. one
Dependency which the invention is intended to eliminate; because according to the invention
the measured value to be determined for all inclinations is always that for a vertical position
the maximum value of the differential pressure existing in relation to the liquid column.
If a weight is used to exert the counterforce, the desired change can be made
the counterforce can be guaranteed depending on the inclination. that
the weight is parallel to the imaginary line connecting the two ends of the column
will. Are z. B. the two ends of the liquid column when the ship is keeled upright
perpendicular to each other, so that the aforementioned connecting line is perpendicular (cf.
Fig. I right-hand side-l, the weight guide must also be vertical in this position
lie. In contrast, in cases where z. B. the lower end of the liquid column
sideways against. the upper one is offset and consequently the imaginary connecting line
has any inclination to the vertical even when the ship is in a keel-upright position (cf.
Fig. I left side), so should the management of the weight in this normal or
Central position have the same inclination.
The invention can be carried out in the simplest manner using a
weight-loaded membrane as a differential pressure system realize by adding the weight
is guided in the direction perpendicular to the membrane surface. Then is at horizontal
Position of the membrane the counterforce equal to the full weight force, while with a
Incline the membrane only with that which is perpendicular to the membrane, which depends on the angle of inclination
Component is loaded and the complementary component (G # sin a.) From the weight guide
is recorded.

Location of the ship.
The water space of the schematically indicated ship's boiler i is connected to a condensation vessel 3 via a connecting line 2. The steam space of the boiler t also has a connecting line ¢ that leads to the condensation vessel. Accordingly, the same pressure always prevails over the water level i ', 3'. This pressure is passed through a line 5 to the upper side of a membrane 6. At the lowest point of line 2 there is a pressure equal to the height difference of the water level i 'above this lowest point than in the' line 5. ' Normally this pressure difference on the Mem = good 6 is a measure of the water level i '. The pressure in the deepest part of the line 2 is passed through the dotted transmission line 7 to the underside of the membrane 6.
Der Bolzen 8 ist bei i i, i i' gelenkig
A bolt 8 with two nuts 9, 9 'is attached to the membrane 6.
In its lower part, the bolt 8 carries a weight i o which is dimensioned so
that there is the desired overpressure in line 7, d. H. the mentioned pressure difference,
on the membrane 6 keeps the equilibrium. In other words, the weight i represents o
represents the setting value of the differential pressure system. The bolt 8 is articulated at i i, i i '
connected to several levers 12, 12 ', which in turn are articulated on the housing wall
are stored. As a result, the bolt is guided axially and can only move vertically
to diaphragm surface 6.
6 senkrechte Gewichtskomponente. The tip of the bolt 8 is supported against a recess 13 of a
Lever 14, which is a power switch in a known and not shown manner
controls. If one imagines that the measuring device shown in Fig
lurching ship is arranged, so will be at every slope despite constant

but the differential pressure system also inclines, the influence of the weight i o on the
Diaphragm 6 in
changed the same dimensions, so that thereby the tilt sensitivity
is compensated and the membrane 6 or the power switch control lever 14 at rest
remain. If the membrane 6 is inclined, the full weight no longer acts
i o, but due to the guide i i, 12 of the bolt 8 only to the membrane surface
6 vertical weight component.
