Description
Device for irradiating liquids with ultraviolet rays There are devices for irradiating liquids with ultraviolet rays known. In particular, devices are known in which the liquid with With the help of an overflow edge, a thin layer is passed over an inclined trickle surface will.
According to the invention, the irradiation surface is a towards its outer edge towards with a slight incline, sloping ring at the upper edge of a liquid container used.
An exemplary embodiment is shown in the drawing. The inlet vessel c, which is adapted in its outer shape to the beam cone of the lamp l and provided below with inlet pipe a, continues at its overflow edge in a slightly inclined drainage ring 1z, which has outlet pipes c at one or more points. The reflector b with the lamp d sits above the overflow ring lt. The mode of operation is as follows: The liquid enters the inlet vessel e through the inlet pipe a, rises in the same up to the edge of the overflow and then flows in a very thin grinder over the overflow ring h to the drainage pipe. The shape of the inlet vessel, which is adapted to the cone of rays, achieves: that the rays in each case in the entire cone area, indicated by thin dashed lines in the drawing FIG. are effective. As soon as the liquid rises, the entire surface of the same is under the action of the rays, and in permeable liquids these penetrate more or less deeply. After the overflow, the extremely thin curtain of liquid flowing off allows: a further subsequent irradiation. The relatively long time during which the liquid is under the flow of rays enables the use of a considerably weaker lamp; than they would otherwise have to be used with the previously known apparatus, which, on the other hand, makes it easier to maintain the correct dosage.
The advantage of the new device over the known arrangements consists in the great simplicity and in the particularly economical arrangement the locking surface around the radiation source.
