Description
Wachs- bzw. Harzersatzmittel.Wax or home replacement agent The invention relates to the use by 'condensation of higher molecular weight, fat or wax-like, oxy groups containing aliphatic 'compounds, optionally in the presence of resin-like Substances such as rosin esters, rosin acids or rosin alcohols with boric acid, boric acid or their anhydrides, products obtained as wax or resin substitutes.
The natural and artificial ones used so far in technology Wax products mainly consist of esters of wax acids with wax alcohols, which can also contain admixtures of free wax alcohols and free wax acids. Montan wax products have been used particularly successfully as synthetic waxes which are generally also esters or free organic acids. Now that we have succeeded in converting the wax alcohols corresponding to the wax acids into Manufacture on a technical scale, have also been achieved by converting these wax alcohols Wax bodies with good properties: let them win.
It has now been found that the d'urcb condensation of higher molecular weight, fatty or waxy aliphatic compounds containing oxy groups, such as Carnauba wax alcohols, beeswax alcohols, montan wax alcohols, octadecanol, docosanol, also octadecanediol, hydrogenated castor oil, pentatria-contanol, with boric acid, boric acid ureacetic acid or its anhydrides obtained high-melting, hard, waxy Masses as wax or resin substitutes in the wax-processing industries, e.g. B. because of the excellent turpentine oil or mineral oil binding property at the Production of floor polishes, shoe polishes, polishing pastes of all kinds with great advantage are usable. They can also be used in the manufacture of candles to increase; des Melting point or to achieve an opaque appearance and to prevent dripping to be needed. They are also suitable for the production of. Adhesion greases and -waxing, drawing grease, for impregnating textiles and other materials, as Component for tree wax, for making records or other plastic ones or molding compounds and for the production of glossy paper.
The wax or resin substitutes to be used according to the invention are distinguished from the wax alcohols used for condensation as well as from those otherwise in the wax-processing Industries used natural or synthetic Wax esters due to higher melting points, greater hardness and a striking, good gloss the end. Due to their hardness and their good oil binding capacity, they can largely be blended with extenders such as paraffin, ozokerite, hardened rapeseed oil, without the wax pastes produced with them becoming too soft or the solvent hand over.
The physical nature of the condensation products to be used changes depending on the selection and quantity of the fat or fat used in their production Wax components and the reaction conditions chosen during the preparation. Under the products to be used are those of more wax and those of more resinous character. Resin-like are mainly those at higher levels Temperatures and longer exposure times are obtained, or those in which the fatty or waxy aliphatic compounds to some extent by resinous Substances such as resin esters, resin acids, resin alcohols, natural resins are replaced. example i i o parts of a obtained by condensation of carnauba wax alcohols and boric acid light yellow wax product (m.p. about 80 °), 7 parts ozokerite, 13 parts paraffin and 70 parts of turpentine oil are combined in a known manner to form a wax paste. An excellent, solid hard wax polishing paste is obtained which is used for treating Leather goods and furniture polishes are very suitable.
Man :erhält ein gut leuchtendes, in der Wärme haltbares Kerzenmaterial.- - Example 2 ¢ to 8 parts by weight of a condensation of Octadecanediol and boric acid obtained high-gloss, pure white wax product (M.p. about 93 °) 100 parts by weight of a customary paraffin candle mass are added. You get: a well-shining candle material that is durable in the heat.
Example 3 This in a known manner by condensation of hardened High-gloss, white, porcelain-like obtained from castor oil, boric acid and acetic anhydride Product that is not liquid even at temperatures of 180 °, but is thick, forms thread-pulling masses, can be machined and is also used for Production of plastic and molding compounds suitable.
