Bei diesen Maschinen war es bereits üblich, die. Ausblaseöffnungen der Vorkammer nach dem Kolbenboden hin zu neigen, .damit die Gemischströme während des :ersten Teils des Abwärtshubes an der Kolbenoberfläche ;geführt werden und sich dabei möglichst vollkommen mit der übrigen Luft mischen. Die Stellen der Kolbenoberfläche, auf welche die Gemischströme auftreffen, werden dabei naturgeanäß sehr stark :erwärmt. Es ist ferner bei :einer Vorkammerdieselmaschine !mit einer den ;gesamten Hubraumquerschnitt überdekkenden kqgelförmigen Höhlung im Zylinderdeckel und in :der Mitte der Höhlung angeordneter Vorkammer bekannt, die Ausblaseöffnun;gen derselben tangential an die kegelige Wand der `Höhlung münden zu lassen, so daß die Vorkammeröffnungen ebenfalls gegen den Kolbenboden gerichtet sind. Gemäß der Erfindung werden die Ausblaseöffnungen der Vorkammer nicht gegen den Kolbenboden; sondern .gegen den im spitzen Winkel nach außen geneigten Umfang einer den mittleren Teil des Zylinder-, querschnitts überdeckenden Höhlung im` Zylinderkopf gerichtet. Ferner ist im Kolbenboden eine Höhlung vorgesehen, welche sich nach dem Kolbenrand zu vertieft und sich in,obierster Totlage des Kolbens mit :der Höhlung im Zylinderdeckel teilweise überdeckt, so daß die in der Zylinderkopfhöhlun.g abgelenkten Vorkammerströme etwa tangential in die -Kolbenbadenhöhlung eintreten. Dadurch, daß die Vorkammerstr öme nicht :gegen den Kolbenboden, sondern gegen den Zy- linderkopf gerichtet sind, ,erfährt der Kolben und auch der Zylinder, wie durch eingehende Versuche festgestellt wurde, eine wesentlich geringere Wärmebelastung. Durch die Höhlu4g im Kolbenboden wird .gleichzeitig eine wesentliche Verbesserung des Brennstoffverbrauches erzielt. Das ist darauf zurückzuführen, daß die in der Zylinderkopfhöhlung abgelenkten Vorkammerströme in der Kolbenhöhlung genügend Raum zur Wirbelbildung vorfinden und sich deshalb innig mit der dort verbliebenen Luft mischen können.
