Abstract
Process for dissolving oxide deposited on a metal substrate. This process comprises the following stages: a) etching with an oxidising solution containing a permanganate anion at a pH of between 2 and 6, preferably between 2 and 4, the etching period being chosen so that the exponential stage is finished, the oxidising solution also containing a sulphate ion at a concentration of between 10<-2> and 10<-5>, preferably between 10<-3> and 10<-4>N; b) a reductive etching by means of an easily degradable organic compound. Application to the decontamination of components of nuclear power stations. <IMAGE>
